We went for our first swim yesterday at the lake. My 2yr old went under the water for just a second. We were barely in the wwater and I dont know what happened but he was face first...It scared me and Im still so nervous about the water...When my 4yr old was 15months old a firend of mines had a son the same age and he drowned, so Ive always been scared...whats the best floaties for both ages?

Invest in some quality floaties that go over the upper arms. They will keep the children afloat. My son was raised in Hawaii. Once he found out that those floaties would let him swim all over the pool and not go under, I could never get him out of the water. Good luck.

If they are swimming with adults, arm floaties are fine, but it rreally is safest if you start them on swim lessons. I taught for the Red Cross for 7 years. Even with swim lessons they should wear life jackets when on a boat or at a lake when you are not in the water with them. There should always be an adult in the water first before they get in and never leave them in the water alone even for one second. Water does not have to be deep for a child to drown, just unattended. The arm floaties will work best for swimming but don't rely on them as a life preserver. If you don't swim, there are also swim lessons for adults and will help with your fear of the children being in the water.

Hi,
I have 2 boys, and have used the ones for the arms on my soon to be 5 y.o., which I also use now on my 19 month old. Work great, don't take any chances.
