Wow, I think this question was only written to provoke an angry response. But I will answer this question by saying that all military personnel are charged with upholding the Constitution, but I assume that you want them to "defend" it how? With force? With a government overthrow? How will that be defending the Constitution?

The military will obey the Commander In Chief until our Constitutional system removes him. If a president were to be impeached and removed from office by the congress, and the President tried to take control with the military, for example, they would not obey him, as under our system he would no longer be the commander in chief.

It is not because they are lazy or scared.

Every soldier defends the United States Constitution and you are a moral coward for suggesting otherwise. We all took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and Domestic; apparently so that individuals like you can make libelous statements like this one and get away with it. I sincerely charge you to retract this statement. It is a lie, and you are responsible for it!

you have no respect or knowledge about what solders do...they defend the constitution better the us citizens do, their lives are that constitution...they are hero's and they have more guts then you obviously do..your pathetic and cowardly to even say such a thing...please talk to a vet talk to a man or women fighting in Iraq right now. Then you tell me what you think.

I lost a solider a friend in Iraq he was far from lazy and scared, the was a hero and died for the US and left behind his wife and unborn baby, so please do some research before you decided to piss people off.

Actually they are. In the oath that they take, it states that they defend the Constitution and the orders of the officers appointed over them...of which Bush is the highest officer.

Every US soldier, sailor, airman and Marine takes the oath and follows the orders of the officers and NCO's above them... who take their orders from the President of the US.

I'd like to see what you THINK they're not defending... and if you're serious, take your case to the ACLU and the Courts System who also have that job.

Get a hobby, watch tv, do something, anything, just stop asking the same question repeatedly expecting that you'll get a different answer, go away.

What are you talking about? They are doing what they are told. Who says they are not defending the US Constitution? You? Who are you to say such things?
