My father made me a deal. He told me if I get a full ride scholarship to college he would buy my the car of my choice. I have narrowed it down to 3 different models. I would like to know what car you would choose. I don't want you to pick one because it cost more. I would like your opinion on quality, handling, and the other goodies. My choices are the 2008 BMW 328i, 2008 Acura TL, and the 2008 Volvo S40.

NO, I'm not spoiled. Its a deal. These cars cost less than $45,000. Thats the cost of tuition. I live in Georgia so we get snow every 1,000,000,000,000 years. I still can't decide. I have heard that BMWs are suckie they are just expensive, and have a reputation. Now moving on to the other person. I don't like the TSX they look like cheap race cars. Moving on once again. I'm not gay you stuid MO FO! I'm just professional I don't want a car like that. When I get older I will buy a Porsh, or a Lambo. Now I want a nice car.

If there is snow where you are living, then you would want to go with the Acura or Volvo since they are front wheel drive. Or you could get the BMW 330xi, that is all wheel drive.
The Acura is a really nice car, (and fast) if you get it with the manual transmission. The Volovo is safe and not too flashy. The BMW handles the best out of all of them.

Of the bunch, the Volvo is easily my last choice. Just a gussied up Ford that is living off a reputation for safety and a reputation for reliability that went away a long time ago. They usually finish at or near the bottom of every test I have read.
The Acura is the best long term choice. They are reliable and well made. Overall it does not quite offer the driving experience of the BMW, but it is probably a lot quicker and cheaper to keep in the long run.
The BMW may be the best choice for you now. You get everything for 4 years or 50000 miles. Brakes, tires, oil and all service. So that is one less thing to worry about. They also hold their values extremely well. Overall reliability has not been great, but you are not getting one of the more exotic versions. They do still offer the best overall driving experience, and if you avoid the imfamous I-drive, the ergonomics are much better.
You have professed not to like Infiniti's, but I would give the upcoming G37 coupe a serious look. 330hp. I would also look at a Lexus IS350, or even hold out for the upcoming IS500 (400+ hp V8).

If you don't want to break Dad's pocket book with maintenance costs and your going to use the car for 4-5 years, I'd choose the Acura TL. As European cars age they tend to have more troubles than Japanese vehicles, especially with the electrical components. Check it out in "Consumer's Reports" reliability ratings.
Resale on all three vehicles will be good because they are always in demand. Look to see if a dealership for all three models will be available to you in the college town. In some small college towns, luxury import dealers aren't present.
Finally, check with your insurance agent, as the BMW may be the highest insurance. This varies by age and area of the country you're in. Good luck with your choice and congrats on the full-ride scholarship!

I love how you said you "should" be rewarded. Congrats on working hard and doing well, but if you live the rest of your life looking for material rewards for all of the things you do..you are going to be pretty disappointed. How about saving some money for graduate school? If you want that Lambo, a little grad school might be just the thing you need. Or maybe putting something aside for the future instead of wasting it on something that will lose half of it's value in three years?
Get the car you like the most. What kind of a response did you expect from here? By the way, I hope you're not planning on being an English major. If posting a message to get advice on your reward for being such a a good student, your grammar should be pretty darn good.

By the way, congratulations on your scholarship. I would definitely get the Volvo. It is a car that will give absolutely no problems whatsoever. It is safe. It is sexy. Handles like a mo-fo. My 2ND choice would be the Acura. It is a nice car, but its nothing more than a luxury Honda. Not to say anything about Honda's'. BMW would be my last choice. it is the smallest of the 3, and it will cost you nothing but heartache and money. Good luck with life......U r definitely on the right path.

They're all great cars, but I'd go for the Acura TL (even a TSX is a great car). BMW's are nice, but just too much money, alot of maintenance, and I think the Acura is roomier, looks better, and is built better. Good Luck.
(Also consider the new Infiniti G35X)

To be honest with you they are all great cars but the resale value will be better on the Acura! Another thing you want to look at is there reliable mechanics in your town for the specific car. Good job on the full ride scholarship.

I would reccomend a Honda Civic, the japanesse engines in these are beyond reliable, my parents had one for ten years and travelled in excess of 200,000 in it and never had a single problem. Also whatever car you get make sure that replacement parts are easily available at a minimal cost. Whe you have decided on a specific model of vehicle ask around to see if any friends or family and query into what problems or negative points they have to say about the vehicle.

The Volvo. They all seem like nice cars though. I would choose the Volvo because they seem to last forever and hold good value. But, like all the others, it will be expensive to maintain.
