how long should i wait?

it depends on what and how much you've eaten.

after a light snack, wait maybe 30 minutes.

after a heavy high-fat meal, you might want to wait 2 hours or more.

I eat while I run but I'm an endurance athlete so I don't have much of a choice! I've never found that I need to wait after eating to particiapte in any activity and my body's used to consuming things while biking/running/in transition. It must be an individual thing. My favorite part of the race is getting off the bike and grabbing my chicken strips to eat while I run my first mile!!!
