I don't have much money and I'm wondering what cheap things I can buy that are good for you. I have been eating a lot of chicken recently but its pretty expensive so I need some advice on cheap forms of protein and other good foods.

Please list anything you can think of that is cheap and healthy.

You need to mix whole grains and beans, which provides all the building blocks of protein without being expensive and is extremely nutritions besides. Mezoamericans ate very well for generations on a combination of corn, squash and beans with only occasional meat (usually, each other), and until europeans introduced them to old-world diseases, they were some of the healthiest people on the planet! Not that I recommend cannibalism as a way to go ... LOL!

Go for beans, brown rice, quinoa, and stuff like that. I really like kamut breakfast cereal, it's really complete and not full of sugar and other junk. A way to get fruit cheap is get frozen organic blueberries and raspberries. They're really cheap for the weight, and for the fact that they're organic.

Free-range eggs are good for protein without all the added crud, and not too expensive.

The only meat that's worth eating is organic or free-range (and, by extension, expensive), or wild game. If you know someone who likes to hunt, maybe they would be willing to share. Elk rocks, in particular - almost no fat and very versatile!

My first proposal used to be the identical as Julius C's ;-D But critically.... Cooking from scratch may even prevent plenty of cash... when you've received the time and the inclination... ie. a bag o' pinto beans will set you again a greenback or 2 and make sufficient to feed you all week, versus shopping cans of refried beans. Eggs, too, have tons of dietary significance for low cost. An omelette for dinner? yum! If I had been fairly deficient and short of to avoid wasting $$$ on the grocery retailer, I'd purchase a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jam~ voila! lunch for the week is served. My splurges could be soy milk and recent end result and vegetables. And cheese. Can't are living with out cheese.

Here is your protein: Fish & Seafood, White-Meat Poultry, Milk, Cheese, Yogurt, Eggs, Beans, Pork Tenderloin, Soy, and Lean Beef. As far as other healthy foods. I find it is best to shop the walls of the grocery store. Once you go down the aisle you enter the land of sodas, chips, and preprepared foods.

Eggs, peanut butter, nuts in general, milk, cheese, broccoli, beans, and peas are all VERY CHEAP. No more than 2 dollars for 1000 cals worth. Nuts cost even as low as 50 cents for 1000 cals depending on where you shop. Definatly shop at bulk food stores, you can get GREAT deals there.

it's pretty hard, frankly, but just take some time to shop around and get to know your local grocery stores and what they have on sale, etc. chicken isn't that bad if you buy a whole chicken and cook it. lean beef. or just get protein shakes. also nuts, which are admittedly expensive, beans, which are not, you can get cans and cans of beans, no problem. eggs. etc. you just have to familiarize yourself with everything and get it down to what you can afford and also enjoy.

Eggs are good, and you can make them so many different ways that you don't get bored. Get lunch meats, like turkey breast. Cans of tuna are reasonably priced as well.

Other good proteins are found in beans, stock up on some cans of garbonzo beans, or kidney beans. Whichever kinds you like.
