"LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter can stay in Gwinnett County school libraries, despite a mother's objections, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Laura Mallory, who argued the popular fiction series is an attempt to indoctrinate children in witchcraft, said she still wants the best-selling books removed and may take her case to federal court.

...

At Tuesday's hearing, Mallory argued in part that witchcraft is a religion practiced by some people and, therefore, the books should be banned because reading them in school violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

"I have a dream that God will be welcomed back in our schools again," Mallory said. "I think we need him.""

This is a woman who has absolutely no idea what witchcraft is. The books are fantasy stories. Nothing in them is even remotely close to being actually possible. What is true in them is the friendships Harry develops, the courage in the face of great danger, and the fact that many children are reading once again. She's a loon.

Ok they don't even have a Bible in the library first of which they should. And reading those books doesn't mean you are studying up in witch craft. It is an adventure of a young boy like a fairy tale which is stupid but thats all it is. I'm sure that the author of those books is not ttying to get kids to study up on witch craft. It' like saying we should take soap operas off the air because they are gonna teach our kids to be big cry babies but it isn't. I my self am a christian and I see nothing wrong with Harry Potter books. At least she isnt talking about sex in them like most books today.

She can't have it both ways. She can't argue that Harry Potter violates the separation of church and state and then argue that God needs to be welcomed back into schools.

Here's a major freak to measure yourself up to ... Are you like her or not?

She wants one idea, (witchcraft,) ban on the basis of church and state separation so that her own dream, (christianity,) ...that "god" can be welcomed back into schools again, can be fulfilled; thus, effectively ignoring the same church state separation laws she wants to see applied in order to to clear the way.

What a two-faced wacko...!

I am against censoring books that conflict with ideas of one or more groups.

Bibles are already censored out of some schools -- I speak as a former school head librarian

I disagree that religious books should be excluded from school libraries.

I do want censorship of books that teach lustful sex (not operational sex -- like a biology book) and EXTREME violence (snuff picture books)

Idiot. Harry Potter is nothing like real Witchcraft. And if her God is all-powerful, he can go wherever he wants. Her real "dream" is to indoctrinate everyone else's kids with no competition.

She is a total idiot. She has never read the books and admits it. The only reason she is even protesting is because some stupid religious groups have "investigated" the books.

In other words they again are spreading their fear and she is too stupid to think for herself.

EDIT:

Sorry I'm not sugar coating this one. She is an idiot. Thumbs down all you want.

I agree that she's a bit insane (and I'm even a Christian).

My thing though, throughout high school, I never saw a Bible in my library...

I think most people know the answer although they probably describe it differently. America bends over backward to accommodate christians and yet many still feel discriminated against when the legal system and society doesn't give into their every whim without question.
