They seem to hate American traditions like freedom of religion. Freedom of speech is likewise an American tradition, they seem to want to stifle this too. The theocratic Christians seem to feel that Christianity should be the number 1 religion in the US. And that everything else has to be subordinated to it.

Note: I am talking about the Fundamentalists, the one’s who want a theocracy here in the USA. If you are not a Fundie, I am not talking about you.

‘Nowyouknow”, Fundamentalists expressing themselves is not what I am concerned with, it is them trying to legislate their religion thereby forcing it on everyone else. Have you never heard of the term Dominist? Or Theocrat? That’s the particular breed of animal I am talking about here. The Fundies who want to re-write the US constitution and make Christianity mandatory.

I agree they need to read St. Augustine's book "The City of God" even though the book was written so long ago, it has a timeless message showing that religion should stay out of politics. This book was ignored in the Middle Ages, and we all know how things worked out when religion and politics intermixed in those times. The fundies should look at history and realize that the Church and state are not meant to be part of one another.

That being said the many atheists who claim persecution and want to flee to Sweden and such are not exactly ideal patriots.

I am not a fundie, but I think maybe the fundies hate these things because they are brought up to. Some people have smaller minds than other people and that makes them more susceptable to believe what people tell them. It is a tradition. Like a scared animal, they believe they will go to Hell unless they get everyone to do whatever their God/politician/religious leader/parent tells them to do. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I would love to know exactly why fundies do these things so we could fix that problem.

What are you talking about? How are "fundies" as you call us not for freedom of speech or religion. What do you think the first thing to go would be if we had no freedoms like that??? Christians rights. Look at China. You can be killed for just having a bible in certain parts of China. And if freedom of speech was taken, who will be hit the hardest? Christians. Because people don't like being told that what they are doing is wrong. So, if anyone wants the freedoms you are speaking if it is us "fundies". God bless you.

It would appear that way. Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, and many others have spoken at great length about wanting to eliminate the separation of Church and State and turning the U.S. into a Fundamentalist Christian state- which obviously would run counter to the views of our founding fathers- many of whom were not even Christians.

Freedom of speech and freedom of religion are "traditions"? Gee, here I thought they were Constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Is that parrot's beak cutting off the blood supply to your brain?

Mercy. Is this what they are really teaching in the schools today? I know you could not have learned it at Sunday school.
Where did you get such ideas?
If you can properly identify who they are, they will be confronted.

I guess I missed that part in your note about fundamentalists wanting to set up a theocracy. Am I confused? or are you?

The same constitution that gives you the right to freedom of speech, gives the people you call "Fundies" the same rights of self expression.

No one is forcing you to follow their doctrines or their beliefs in your own life. Why are you so angry?

My concern is that it's not just the fundies that hate America. Much of the world hates us. Sometimes it's apparent why.

It is nothing personal. Fundies are taught to hate everything and everyone, all in the name of love of course.
