I honestly don't remember if I answered your first question but I'm very happy it was removed. Yes ask your vet for an e-collar to keep your dog from chewing his stitches. He should have given you one in the first place.

Give your dog a tummy rub for me ok!

You can keep it lightly covered (not a tight bandage). Bandages must be changed daily. I often recommend putting a T-shirt on the dog, which helps in many cases (depends where the sutures are--if on the body very helpful). If these don't work, you'll need an Elizabethan collar--looks like a lampshade--for the dog to wear until the sutures are removed.

I'm glad you took the dog to the vet, hope all turns out well

An e-collar (the cone thingys) are the best way to keep your dog from chewing her stitches out, they need to be kept on at least when you are not going to be around to stop her. You can get them from your vet. You will need to keep this on until the stitches are out in two weeks time. Most dogs will object to the collar at first but quickly get used to it, it doesn't stop them eating or drinking.

Like it has already been mentioned, ask the vet for a cone type collar. I hope your dog will be okay.

The "Cone" of silence! I'm surprised your vet didn't give (sell) you a plastic cone that connects to the collar to keep him from bothering the sutures.

when he chews at his stiches grab him and pick him up and tell him to his face, "NO" VERY VERY stern. When he chews it, give him something different to chew on. Just try to catch him in action.
