If this is a wild baby bird, and you live in the US, you should not be feeding it anything. Put it back in the nest and leave the parents take care of it. It is illegal to keep any native birds in the US, unless you have the proper permits.

If you can not put it back in the nest, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. These people have the training and the resources to feed and care for the wild bird until it is old enough to be released. You can find a rehabilitator here:

Go to U.S. Contacts (by State): and click on the letters (A-M oe N-W) for your state.

If it's a BABY bird, like it should still be in a nest, you should get mealworms from a pet shop.

If you get live ones remember to cut the head and tail off before you give it to the bird, otherwise it can eat its way out of the bird and kill it. But you can also get dried dead ones, just soak them in water for a while.

What kind of bird is it? You may want to try ground hamburger (warmed to room temperature) if it's a meat-eater. Or something else- perhaps sopped grain bread- if it's a kind that eats grains and seeds.
