You would think so!

Just a couple of observations after a couple of months on YR&S:

1. Atheism has been granted somehow the status of a religion - I was always under the impression that being an athiest primarily meant not believing in a God and secondarily, by extension, not having a religion.

2. Atheism is touted as being logical, practice by those who have clear thinking and what educated people claim to be. There is the impression given that athiests are the ones who have intelligence but those who believe in God are uneducated and do not think for themselves, shut their brains off.

3. Atheist's prime entertainment (on YR&S) is to poke fun at, ridicule and taunt Christians (not exclusively, but especially).

4. Lastly, there is the impression given by many Atheists that Christians and anyone who is religions is closed minded, and yet, it seems to be the Christians and other religious who are willing to listen!

And so, I would agree with you VH, Atheists on R&S like to give the impression that they do know everything - I hope as a Christian I never give that impression!

Statistics show that atheists tend to be more intelligent, much better educated, and considerably older than the average Christian. Although atheists certainly don't know everything, in general they know a hell of a lot more than the average willfully ignorant Christian, who often rejects factual truth and scientific knowledge simply because it doesn't agree with with his preconceived religious prejudices.

Many (maybe most) atheists practice a program of lifelong learning and spend their entire lives learning everything they possibly can about objective (physical) reality. On the other hand, Christians appear to concentrate on subjective experience as the basis for their faith and the Bible as the sole source of their knowledge. Thus, Christians deliberately place themselves at a severe intellectual disadvantage because they are unwilling to learn anything that they don't already believe.

Apparently faith is much more fragile than knowledge and must be protected from "dangerous" ideas.

No Atheist claims to know everything. The difference between a Christian and an Atheist is that the Christian says "I know everything because a 2000 year old book written by sheepherders who thought the earth was flat says so" and the Atheist says "I don't know, but I'll keep searching until I find out".

The irony of course is that atheists have theories, and guesses on the unanswered questions of our universe while Christians and most other religions claim to have all the answers.

What created life, atheists guess amino acids through a process turning into single celled organisms, do they know this, no, they think that (some).

While Christians "know" that God created life, because they have the "TRUTH."

Also ironic that the people with the "truth" need to shout it.

I have never met a Christian or an Athiest who thought that they knew everything. Such arrogance proves their own stupidity.

Actually,we don't.That is why we constantly pursue knowledge, and test and retest,in our quest to know truth. When you say "goddidit"it is you who make the claim of "knowing everything". Personally,I don't know near everything, but my life will be spent always trying to learn more, rather than taking the knowledge I have now and saying"that's it,I don't need to learn anymore"

Atheists know nothing more then the Christians they despise, and they seem to be much more arrogant then most Christians. And heres the kicker, an atheist can't come any closer to giving an explanation for our existence on this planet, then a Christian can
