Yup he's still a pup until 2 years old! Love Mastiff's!

Breeds vary and very often there is variation between the sexes too. Females generally mature a little earlier than males (oh, how true is that!) In show terms, 12 months is usually the cut-off for pups, although some kennel clubs move pups into junior grades at 9 months. Personally, I would still consider a dog a pup until it's about 18 months old.

Technically 1 year is the end of puppyhood, but many large breeds like mastiffs keep growing until 18 months to 2 years. And they may remain puppies in spirit much longer.

Most mature between the ages of 12-18 months depending on the breed. Do an internet search on Amercian Mastiffs and find out when they mature.

I guess it all depends on how you raise them.
I have a 9 year old Terrier mix.
A 4 1/2 year old Beagle.
A 4 year old Pit Bull.
They all still act like puppies and probably will forever.
Would you rather have a puppy or an old grumpy dog?
I hope they act like puppies forever.

I have three Boxers mix dogs that are 2 1/2. They still act like puppies, playing, jumping, chewing etc.. but are calmer than when they were under a year. I think that is just from having them fixed. I've read that Boxers act like puppies until they are three.

It depends on the dog and how you define adult. Physically, most dogs are mature by around 1 year old. But behaviorally, it depends on the breed. Some mature to adult behavior faster (golden retriever) than others (yellow lab, dachshund). Behavioral maturity also depends on how you raise them and on your disciplinary style (consistent vs. permissive, etc.).
