a tree
you can have an invite w/ a tree printed on the front and a poetic line on the inside about a tree planted in a good foundation/ how it starts small but grows tall etc.
you can have someone read a biblical passage or poem about a tree during the ceremony.
you can have leaves imprinted into the frosting on the cake.
favors: little bird's nests filled w/ candy. etc
hope this helps or gets you thinking :D

Well weddings themselves usually "depict strong love and an unshakable bond."

You could try paris themed...

I've even been to a wedding where the theme was the bride and groom.. every table had a photo album / scrapbook / guestbook with pictures and stories written by them.. the bar only served their favourite drinks.. (that was a lot of tequila let me tell you!) And they had pictures on silver thread hanging from the tent cieling.

Even fairytail themed.. like cinderella or beauty and the beast

I hope I helped in some way...

I don't understand the concept of a big wedding. If you are so scared of joining yourself with someone that you have to have all that "support", maybe you should rethink the wedding. I find the best and most romantic ceremonies are those that are planned specifically for the bride and groom. What do you BOTH like to do? Incorporate it into a private ceremony (pictures) that you will remember forever. If you can keep the cost down, you can spend more money on a down payment on a house or even your honeymoon (carry over your wedding theme.

Studies have shown weddings that are big and flashy tend to end up in divorce - Maybe yours should be intimate and with select people who really care about your successful marriage

Go for a vintage wedding, at a time where people believe marriage was forever.

Use lots of silver and black in everything; be it the wedding dress, dress code for the guests, invitation cards and decorations, depicting metal and magnet.
