so horrible i can not believe that i am actually feeling that way. I can deffinately relate that i am going through withdrawls, however does anyone else feel like this. Rehab has crossed my mind- i feel like i need to take pills in order to correct the imbalance of me feeling totally crazy when i am not smoking weed. Why do i feel so much better when i smoke?

Marijuana is not in any way physically or biochemically addictive. What you are experiencing is a purely psychological effect. Pot is an escape and it's an escape from something. It makes you feel good. It's sort of a self medicating. It's a mental habit. You don't need rehab, it's not like a danger to quit 'cold turkey', you can quit it easier than quitting smoking cigarettes. You probably have anxiety issues or at least issues with dealing with normal levels of anxiety. It might be a good idea to seek counselling from a qualified psychologist, but rehab? That's over treating the situation.

The need for pills you experience could be due to your anxiety issue or your inability to deal with everyday anxiety, trading one unhealthy coping mechanism with another. That's why you need a good psychologist. To teach you the healthy coping mechanism that mentally well people use. Good luck!

I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

Smoking weed regularly for so long can result in psychological and biochemical dependence. Basically you need it in order to feel normal.

Talking to a doctor will help you get an idea of where to go from here. At least you've realised you have a problem - which is halfway to solving it already.

I quit after heavy use for 7-8 years. I had sometimes had problems with anxiety, but after I quit, it was 10x worse. That was 3 mos ago, and I am still having problems.

It's called withdrawal and it can be horrible. Give it 72 hours and if you don't have a mental health isssue you should feel okay.
Otherwise I suspect that you are self medicating with pot for a deeper issue. You may want to talk to your doctor and see if you have depression/anxiety issues that can be treated with medication.

I'd advise you to go to rehab.

I don't want to see you end up like my neighbours, who are a paranoid mess because of pot-smoking.
