We noticed the service history book was not with the car, told by salesman they have it but would find it and send it to us, weeks passed nothing from the garage we contacted the manager he said he would look into it, more time passed so we contacted BMW uk and asked them about the cars history they sent us out a list of dates of when the car had work carried out, before coming to Scotland the car was looked after by a BMW garage in England, so we contacted them and they informed us they only carried out 3 servises on the car meaning the car has a missing oil service between 30000 & 60000 miles told our dealer about this they say they had spoken to the other garage and they told them they had done the missing service and would send a duplicate service book stating this but it arrived with the servise in question missing, they still tell us they have no record of this service but our garage is telling us they did do it and are now getting irritated by us wanting to get it sorted. HELP?

Keep on at them, it seems like thats the only way you're gonna get it sorted, they should be happy to get it sorted if the are an approved dealer, if they are, mention that you've sent and received emails to BMW UK that should get them slightly more interested!

Write a formal letter to the managing director of the garage, pointing out that the salesman (Mr Whoever) told you that the car had a full service history and it was on the basis of this that you bought the car.

Point out that they still haven't produced the genuine service record despite several reminders, and because you have been kept waiting so long you have done research with BMW UK and the garage who serviced it before, to find that an important service was missed out and your car therefore has not been properly maintained, despite what they claimed.

Request his proposals in writing within 7 days and send a copy to BMW UK for their information. Keep copies and if you don't have a satisfactory response go to Trading Standards. It seems clear that the salesman is a liar.

A bit late now, but ALWAYS see ALL the documentation before parting with your money. If it's "in the post" just walk away. Do you have the FULL SERVICE HISTORY claim in writing? If so insist they prove it in writing. If the car has gone for 30000 miles on the same oil it is worth less than if it had been properly maintained. Words like "Small claims court" may energise them!

Sounds like they lied to you, and now they are getting mad because you have caught them in a lie.

I would recommend that you take the car back and demand either they get the car facts straightened out or buy the car back from you. Including interest.
