I'm not sure it's compatible. If by naturalist you mean nudists, then it would only work if the Christian was blind.
Since I'm not blind, I know I would sin by lusting after a naked woman, and so as a Christian I would not put myself in that position.
If you mean Naturist as in lovers and caregivers of the Nature around us, then I have to say that all Christians have that duty. Most may not understand this because it is not preached about very often, but when God created Adam, He created a gardner who would take care of the garden. So we were all created to be Naturalists.

Adam was a naturalist:
Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. Genesis 2:19
Seems to me like it is Gods pleasure that we be naturalists.

Christians can be anything they want to be. A Naturalist is a job profession, and besides, most Christians who know their religion know themselves to be Stewards of the World.
As a Christian, I know the beauty of every blade of grass, and every species of animal, but at the same time, I know the grass must be mowed, and that herds of animals that grow too large destroy the environment as much as man does.

I never understood how a Christian could not be a naturalist? Where did nature come from? God? If so, how can one respect God without respecting nature.

I don't see why not. A naturalist is somebody who studies nature and natural history. For those above asking about nudism, the word for that is "Naturist"

Dr Stephen Hawking, the famous cosmologist, was given an award by the Pope for his discovery of black holes. Even though this discovery supported the so-called "Big Bang" theory [of how the universe began], the Catholic church embraced Hawking's research since nothing in his findings was in conflict with the basic tenet of all religions: that there is a supreme being whose power reigns over nature itself.

If you mean 'nudists' or 'naturists'- probably not.
If you mean people who are educated and passionate about the environment- then probably not, but it depends on the brand of Christianity.
In the very large evangelical movement in America, they are preaching that the world is coming to an end anyway, so you don't need to worry about the environment. (AAArrrgh!)
