I think something personalized is really nice, and you can get things like this very cheaply! A nice photo frame or album with their names and wedding dates, or something like that.

First of all, check if she has a registry. There will definitely be affordable items on there that you can be sure she wants.
If there isn't a registry, get her a nice picture album or frame (you can even personalize it with their names and wedding date) so that they can display or hold some of their wedding pictures.
If all else fails, get her a gift card to a store. Bed Bath and Beyond is always a good option for newlyweds, along with Home Depot or Lowe's.
Good luck!

Pick something off the registry. This is why they have registries.
Gift card
Cash - trite but works.
Restaruant gift certificate
Movie tickets
If you're REALLY broke - level with her about our finances and ask if you can watch her house, walk the dog, water the plants while she's on her honeymoon.

A nice picnic basket. You can find them fully stocked online with utensils, plates and cups. You should be able to find a nice one for around $40

Gift cards work great because then they get what they need or want and they won't have to return anything.
