Most of "God's" laws are your basis for social stability, No stealing, no swearing, no murder, no coveting neighbors wife (which could lead to the others) ect. These social norms allow people to interact and trade in good faith with each other. Look at how the relatively recent break in those social norms have resulted in a closed society. People lock their doors more often than not, children cannot roam the streets safely and arguments over parking spots result in getting shot. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with making laws (and enforcing them) using "God's" laws as a basis.

Right, we could start with the biblical laws such as eating shellfish or shrimp is an abomination, disobedient children should be stoned to death, if a man rapes a woman he must pay the parents 50 shekels of silver and then be forced to marry her, if a woman ever grabs a man's balls to fight him off (or help defend her husband) her hand must be cut off (from her husband in the latter case), working on sunday should be punishable by death, outsiders won't be welcome (no immigration), blasphemy will be punishable by death, slavery will be ok (God even gives monetary worth for human life... a man in his 20s is worth 50 shekels of silver, a woman of the same age only worth 30 shekels).
Speaking of women, we could also include the whole bit about how women aren't allowed to speak in church or talk back to their men, how they are supposed to be meek, obedient, and don't even count as human beings. Also women should advertise when they're on their periods so that nobody can touch them and become "unclean," and so that they can't be allowed to sit on anything. Oh yeah, and if a daughter is sold into slavery it can only be sexual slavery, she can't be made to do "man's work" or she should be put to death.
Yeah, obviously I think the biblical laws are disgusting, atrocious, immoral, and have absolutely no business anywhere near a civilized society.

No, because it isn't what God thinks (he does not exist). It is what some guys thought he should think about 2000 years back. And because of its ambiguities, those from its writing and its historical distance, it is interpreted by only a few who have particular axe to grind.
What has the bible to say on: the speed limit; carrying guns; paying of your TV licence; the useage of data on a computer; etc etc etc.

Heh,
Depends on which God.
Some are pretty lenient when it comes to sexual practices, others tend to be strict, so if a country bases laws on God's interpreted will, then the laws will reflect the God. That is why premarital sex isn't recommended for tourists in the middle east.

Absolutely not. Laws should be based on morality and not causing suffering to other human beings and there is no need to look to the Bible for this. If we look to the Bible to know what is and is not moral, genocide and slavery would be legal but our common sense and conscience tell us otherwise.

I think there should be a law encouraging as much condescending sarcasm as your question as possible, and fines for those too dimwitted to get them. We should prohibit things God calls icky poo.

Quoted it before and will again:
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do to their fellows, because it always coincides with their own desires."--Susan B. Anthony
It holds up.

Aren't they already?
For some reason "God" thinks that the act of human creation (i.e. sex) is yucky, and therefore there are many laws to restrict it.
