Internationally. There is so much to see and do in the world and so many other cultures than the ones found on American soil. Travelling is a huge learning experience and I find the memories I make while travelling are lasting a lifetime.

It depends on what you're looking for in an excursion. Do you want relaxation, culture, adventure, discovery? I'd say choose somewhere that's relatively tourist friendly for the first time. For instance, if you want adventure and nature, a place like Costa Rica has lots of organized tours that don't feel too packaged.
Also, keep your language abilities in mind. Do you want the challenge (and fun) of trying to get by with a phrasebook and your intuition? Do you just want to be able to speak your main language? Do you want to brush up on a language you don't speak as well?
Whatever you do, enjoy!

i would go on a trip to New England, because there is so much to see and do in such a small area of the US....its more expensive than some places but well worth while.
