Proverbs 4:24
Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

Ephesians 4:29
29Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

-I know I at times felt convicted if I say something that is not glorifying God, but is rather glorifying the world-- there is so much corrupting talk these days, even I have laughed at a few things but conviction comes quickly when I know it is something I do not even need to open my ears to or open my mouth to say! I need to be in constant prayer over what I should say and what I should not.

I do struggle with this all the time. I work in a car lot with a bunch of men that have filthy mouths. I try not to listen and try to keep away. I feel conviction from smoking, and listening to something things that i should not. Like some music, or hear a conversation.

Oh yes, lol, there is nothing like the office talk. The most important thing is that you do feel that it is wrong. You just have to start practicing it each day. . .little by little you will get better at avoiding it. I too struggle with running my mouth too much or allowing myself to listen to conversations that I should just walk away from. We will never be perfect but each day we learn something new and grow stronger. . . .

This is a topic that I have actually been pondering quite a bit lately, so thanks for the question. :)

You might be over-obsessing on it. By trying to avoid "corrupting" speech, you are becoming totally self-absorbed. Relax a little and try listening to others rather than always dwelling on your own shortcomings. Try volunteer work. By doing good things for others, you will be moving in the right direction.

Although you make a valid point, you seem to be exceptionally anxious over the situation.
Please do not get uptight over mistakes made against your will.
The important thing is to avoid corrupt talk as much as possible, but if we stumble, there is an understanding One.

Its only corrupt speech if you think of it as corrupt speech.

Let not your mind be troubled by such trivialities.

It is not so much what we say, as what we do after all.

Each one of us has his/her own difficulties in this world. For some it is our speach, for some it is sultry thinking, for me it was always wanting to get thiose who hurt me back. I have gooten past it but it took a lot of study and prayer. You can never be perfect but you can work to avoid the same and continuing sins. Read, study, and obey HIS WORD. Have a wonderful week.

We all need to be in constant prayer. God knew we are not perfect that is why he sent his son Jesus to save us. Men are sinners by nature. But, the fact that you are aware of this sinful nature is commendable. God Bess you always.
