Though I am not perfect, I would consider my self an attempter at being a doer of the Word.
I hear, and it sounds good. I want to do it. Usually I do. But, not always. Thank heavens for a forgiving God.

After this busy past weekend I'd like to be a sit-in-my-comfy-chairer for a while.
But when I'm at my best I'm a doer. I believe in the Humanist call to service to humankind. But, like most people, I get tired and fall back to being just a watcher.

Not much of either, actually. I heard a lot about "the word" as a child, because my mother was a Methodist Sunday school teacher. But when I grew up, I decided I was responsible for making my own choices, and now I am a witch.
It is, of course, a much longer story than that.

For the past ten years I walked with Christ through the shadows of the valleys and through the deserts. I walked through the storms and I always make it to the other side.
With Jesus on my side, the Spirit leading me, and the Father on my back nothing is impossible....

Some-days are hard for me and a tape plays in my head -- "you're nothing, people hate you, you're a fake..."
Recently I realized that I can change the tape to -- "faith in Christ, faith in Christ..."
As I play that tape in my head -- I think, He KNOWS my pain and loves me -- I feel better. Then I think -- If I do have faith in Christ, then what does He want me to do?
... well then I think ... pray on my knees... read the scriptures ... serve my family and neighbors... and so forth
Then I do them with faith in Christ -- even if I am not perfect I have faith that Christ's atonement can wash away my sins -- and I am free to do good.

I want to do what Jesus wants (not what is always popular).
I agree christians need to be doing what God wants.
(that is one of my best christian friends favorite verse)
God doesn't ask people to do what they want to do.

Have you sold all your possessions, given them to the poor and are preaching the good news?
The fact that you are typing on a computer tells me you are at the library or that you haven't followed the edict of Jesus and are a listener not a doer.
