Dont they know there are temperature changes on other planets too? Does that mean they are burning oil there too? But that is hardly ever reported. Also, the past winter was the coldest ever on record here. This means that any temperature change is SOLAR NOT MANMADE.

People should realize that those that push global warming have an agenda. That is why you never see these reach charlatans give up their jets or million dollar homes. Fear is the product they push...

I dont know abour you, but in MY AREA, we had the coldest recorded winter on record. And I live in Missouri, not some godforsaken place like Siberia. Many news releases contain bias btw.

You know, I actually heard someone talking about how Gore is totally into the global warming thing and how he has a private jet, and a huge house, and a lot of cars...

Well first I'll start off with your statement about the past winter. If you'll please read this article:

http://www.thestar.com/News/article/192267

You'll see that you're exactly wrong, and it was actuatlly the WARMEST winter on record. That's a pretty crucial error, I'd say.

"Mar 15, 2007 03:16 PM
Associated Press

WASHINGTON – This winter was the warmest on record worldwide, the U.S. government said today in the latest worrisome report focusing on changing climate."

As for other planet temperature variations, nobody is disputing that there are "natural" factors in planet temperature variations, including the Earth. If you will please examine the following graph:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png#file

You will see that the Earth is currently significantly hotter than at any other time in the past 2000 years. Can you say the same about the other planets? No, which means that your argument is invalid.

As for the supposed agenda of "those that push global warming", what do you claim it is? I "push" (a.k.a. educate about) global warming, and I would much prefer that it didn't exist so I could live my life without a care instead of worrying about the future.

Simply put, none of your arguments make any sense.

Because the data clearly shows it's real and it's mostly us.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long.

The scientists who measured Mars say the cause is different from that on Earth. And most of the other planets are not warming.

It's not the sun:

To disbelieve global warming, you basically have to reject science.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

I haven't bought into the global warming propoganda at all.

There are temperature changes on other planets, many of them are getting colder and the north polar ice cap on Mars is expanding (I assume your skeptic sources conveniently forgot to mention that). Presumably they refer to the NASA reports that indicate Mars may be warming in places but ignore the rest of the same reports that confirm warming on Mars (and other planets) is not due to the sun and is not related to warming on Earth.

You may have experienced the coldest winter on record (if you did I've not heard about it) but you live in one place. Global warming isn't about one place it's about the whole world which has just had the hottest winter on record which followed on from the hottest year on record and preempted the start of what is on track to become the new hottest year on record.

No reputable source anywhere even suggests that the current warming is solely attributed to solar variation. Quite the contrary. We know in finite detail about solar variation and can measure it with incredible accuracy, this is why we know it only has a small role to play in the overall warming.

I push global warming because I'm concerned about the future of the only planet we have and the well being of my children, their children etc. I do not have an aggenda. I am not a charlatan, don't have a jet and don't have a million dollar home. If I wanted to make money through research I would switch tomorrow to doing medical, pharmacutical or petrochemical research. It's ethics, not money, that keeps me involved with the science of global warming.

global warming doesn't necessary mean that everywhere will be warmer

some areas will have more rain, some areas will have more draught

earth without people is a perfect self-balanced entity, with more and more people living on earth, the yin and yang of earth is destoryed

what you got last winter is exactly the result of global warming, the weather patter has changed, it is no longer a balanced winter

the earth is protected by co2, and now there is a hole on the earth atmosphere, so there is more sunlight coming to earth, and people are more likely to get skin cancer, etc

so global warming is real, it is not just made up, random lies

Because most people need some sort of religious belief to force upon everyone else. It makes them feel important, being a part of some "greater cause", when the only cause that really matters is your own survival.

And you are right. Those that push the man-made global warming idea do have an agenda. They want power over others. They think of themselves as gods that cannot be questioned. They are so narcissistic that they think they know what is best for everyone and everything. And the tribe worships them, just like in any other religious movement. This cycle will continue until mankind realizes the fallacy of tribalism and the truth of individuality and rational thought. Until then, the few of us that get it have to suffer for the majority's ignorance and greed.

There are cycles of temp changes on every planet which are completely normal to have over the span of many years, however there has been a sharp increase of gases in recent years that keep our planet warmer and as a result our polar ice caps and glaciers have beel melting at rates never before seen or recorded, our ocean temps are warmer, hurricanes are stronger, etc. These things are not considered to be part of the natural cycle. Scientists believe this is happening because the atmosphere shows unnatural levels of gasses from man made waste which have cause our environment in general to be warmer. The increase directly coincides with man's inventions and increased use of things such as the automobile, factories, oil refineries, etc. If you look back only 100 years ago, we didn't have such waste as we do now. SUVs, computers, and such are all very recent things. We're smart people, we just have to figure out how to make things better and learn to dispose of them without further harming our environment so that our grandchildren will have an earth to inherit.

We're human. We're self-centered beings who tend to think that we're just one small being... how can we affect anything so big? But there are billions of us. Together we affect quite a lot.

Your point about some who push global warming for personal gain is absolutely true. Corporations have figured out that they can make a buck off of this. They will absolutely be lining their pockets, but they are greedy b@st@rds and will do so regardless of the situation. They will capitalize off any 'trend' that comes across their desk and they consider to be marketable. That's what they do. So long as they also put their money where their mouth is and do some actual research to lessen emissions. We have to take the good with the bad in any situation. People also have to make a living. Scientists can't just do all this research out of the goodness of their hearts as much as they may want to. They have to earn a living for their family. Just as people who volunteer to do medical work in foreign countries can only do it for so long because they have to come home eventually and earn a living. Money does have to be made at some point. We have to take the bad with the good, but the good is worth it.

and what does the warming of other planets that have atmospheres that are mostly composed of greenhouse gases, have to do with the warming on Earth?

there are other ways to produce greenhouse gases other than burning oil.
burning oil just releases the ones that are undergroud, not the stuff that is already in our atmosphere being recycled by plants. since deforestation and desertification kills plants, it is only logical to assume that the Earth's ability to deal with CO2 is shrinking while CO2 output is increasing.

it sounds, like you need to do a little bit more critical thinking, rather than accepting anything that allows you to argue with the percieved "liberal conspiracy" created by right-wing propoganda.

the same type of people who are now feably trying to discredit global warming were the very same types, using the same arguments, in attempt to discredit the claims of the damaging effects of smoking and second hand smoke decades ago.
If you don't realize it, they are also using the same arguments...
"banning smoking in public will ruin the economy "

"there is no credible scientific evidence that smoking is harmful", even though they had the research that plainly stated the adverse effects of it, and allowed thousands and thousands of people to die, while they profited from their deaths.
is this the type of ethics you support??

regardless of what is occuring with global warming, whether it is real or not, the factors attributed to it are very real threats to life on this planet, and must be dealt with.

but anyway, even if people are pushing an agenda that promotes environmental awareness to line ther pockets, isn't that the perfect example of the economy regulating itself, the central dogma of conservative economic ideology? If you don't think so, just hop on over to the politics section and watch them tell everyone how the economy should be left alone to regulate itself. If they truely feel that way, rather than feeling like emerging environmentally friendly companies are a threat to their profit and power, there would be no worry about them pushing environmental awareness to line their pockets ...right?

What is the gain that anyone could get by "pushing" this agenda & getting people to conserve energy?

There may be some fear about global warming - but like a good cop follows the trail of money ...... where is the money trail here?

I think it is just good science pointing to the fact that we are releasing into out atmosphere more pollutants and CO2 than a natural plant would ever see.

I am open to your argument - but unless you can give some specifics I won't change my position. Right now my only conclusion of your position is that you just don't want to make any habit changes in your life & this is the way you are rationalizing that desire.

why have you boughten into the anti global warming propaganda? honestly-look at where their info is coming from-i'm 90% certain that alot of the crap that side is putting forth is being pushed by the big corporations.

my suggestion to you would be to take a look at who's making money off all the issues-who stands to lose more money-the people who are pushing the idea of global warming or the people who are against global warming?

it has been proven that alot of things that we as human beings create and do cause alot of harm to our environment and the human race in general (look at all the crap that causes cancer)-so lets forget for a moment about global warming-let's just take into consideration that we should be Greener for the sake of our own lives and health and local environment.

OK this is a rather confusing question and I will be happy to answer it for you the best I can. People are so concerned about global warming because, yes it is probably true and yes it is probably happening but it wouldn't start taking effect for another couple hundred years. People in the future will have stuff to protect against it so I for one am not concerned at all about it. If people start working on plans to stop it now, then maby people wouldn't be so worried about it. But "no" everyone is to buissy worrying about it than acculy doing something. They are all like "OMG global warming OMG what are we gona do" while I'm over here sayin in my head "(OK cool it guys...somebody get out there and do something about it wimps or I will have to and do you think I want that, no that's rite but I will if I have to. Now I'm gona go to McDonald's and get a coffee or something)" So my point is that we should all stop worrying and do something!
