I have been diagnosed with having a small kidney stone over nearly 2 weeks ago, I was told to stay at home and it would pass on its own. The last 2 days I have been finding tiny white particles in my urine nearly everytime I pee, I also have had slightly more pain the last 2 days in my kidney and by my abdomen and it has been burning a little when I pee today nothing severe yet, just slight discomfort. I have been drinking about 10 glasses of water a day and also a couple of glasses of cranberry juice to flush the stone out. What are the particles? and why do I have the pain in the kidney and a slight burning when I pee? is it the stone moving or possibly passing. Any info I would be grateful, cause the doctors just keep saying it will pass. Thanks

Congrats! Your kidney stone is passing. Your body is attempting to break it up which is why you are having kidney (flank) pain. The white particles you see are the stone coming out. More than likely your doctor is having you filter your urine to collect the particles. They will then be analyzed in a lab to see what they are made out of (9/10 it is usually calcium) so you can avoid the stones in the future by altering things in your diet. The burning that's occuring when you pee is the stone coming out. It is causing irritation along your ureters (the tiny tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder). You may even notice some blood until all the pieces have passed. Drinking the water like you are is the best thing you could have done. It definitely helps to move the stone out of you. Just be patient a few more days; everything should clear up. Hope this helps!

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

I have passed two in my lifetime. Once it passes, you will feel all of that pain just disappear. It is moving...that is the pain you are feeling. It could be breaking up and small particles are being passed out of the system. Keep drinking the same and take the meds if they gave you any to take. When it's out of your body, it is like Nirvana....you will feel such relief. Good luck...feel better soon....

I'm pretty sure it would hurt. Aren't kidney stones calcium? Maybe that's the white bits. Have a look on the encyclopedia on NHSdirect.
