1raw egg
1/2 a cup or so of dry oatmeal
1/4 to1/2 cup of milk
mix together
*measurements are an approximate - No need to be precise
if feeding from a bottle thin out w/ more milk
if feeding from a dish - should be a slightly runny paste
**refrigerate what you are not currently feeding the pup. When serving, microwave it for a FEW seconds until luke warm / room temperature (test before giving dog, burning it's mouth is not going to help the not eating problem)
I know that it sound odd - but it truly works
I have used this method several times when we have come across animals that should still be with the mother (my Aunt is the one the human society calls when a mother has been killed and there are babies - dogs, cats, raccoons, etc. it has tremendous results) I myself have used this "pet food" on a 3 week old kitten, a 5 week old kitten and a 5 week old pup - the 3 week old kitten is now 12 years old - and still very healthy
It supplies a high amount of vitamins to you pet
and is easy to digest, which is part of the current problem with your pup
BEST OF LUCK - OH - FEED IT AS OFTEN AS YOU THINK, THEY EAT SMALL AMOUNTS WHEN THAT SIZE, AND GET HUNGRY OFTEN !

You should be very worried. Mix some white sugar with water add a little salt. 3 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt to a cup of water. Get an eye dropper. Suff the eyedropper in the pups mouth and squirt it in. Hold the puppies head up and his mouth closed.
It should swallow. If it doesn't take it to the vet right away.
Feed puppy 2 -4 oz (1 half a cup of the mixture) every 2 hours.
After four feedings switch to alternating beef or chicken broth
and the mixture.
You may also have to force the little one to eat formula wheter it wants to or not. Not many puppies that young will suck from a bottle nipple. Try using the eyedropper method with the formula and feed almost constantly with it.

Gently pinch the skin on the back of his neck. If it doesn't rebound right away, he is starting to suffer from dehydration. Get him to a vet immediately! Puppies and kittens dehydrate very quickly because they are so small. Newborns need to be fed every couple of hours, but at 4 weeks they still need something at least every 3 hours or so. You should take him to the vet anyway, as he will need shots and deworming.
Also learn all you can about raising an orphaned puppy, because that's essentially what he is. He should have stayed with his mom and littermates another 4-8 weeks, minimum, but since she won't feed him, you're going to have to be the next best thing.

Unfortunately this little one will need all the TLC you have to give. When a mother withholds food, it sends a signal to the pup that the mother sees a flaw in it. The weakling of the litter is often discarded by the mother and her time and nutrients are given to her other offspring. The discarded pup has to overcome the lack of bonding with the mother and the loss of nutrition.
Try offering pleasant rubs, cooing sounds and a lot of cuddling during feedings. Also try many small feedings during the day.
Has the vet checked to make sure that the pup has no physical defects that would have caused the mother's rejection and his whimpering when eating? He could be in pain. Also, can it eliminate without crying? A problem in the digestive track can cause lack of appetite.
Thank you for caring so much for this little one. It is blessed to have you. Please send a message back to all of us. We will want to know how both of you are doing.

Yup you should be.. Dehydration kills.. especially 4 week old puppies.. It doesn't matter if mom wants to feed him or not, he should still be with the litter and should be eating with the littermates.. He can eat quality dog food soaked and moist.. I have 5 week old puppies who are eating dry, not soaked.. You should take him back so that he can at least be with the others. Mom isn't maybe going to want to feed them, if their nails are sharp or they are biting her. But they should still be together..
Edit : Oh come on guys, this is a 4 week old puppy.. He can be eating food mixed with goats milk if mom doesn't want to feed anymore. He is a 4 week old puppy, He has TEETH , sharp teeth. Lots of times if they are bitey puppies mom will say enough is enough.. He isn't a new born puppy.. Canidae mixed with goats milk, softened up and he will be fine. BETTER if mom was still supplementing and feeding him milk too but if she can't / won't he will be fine with mash...

Try feeding him some wet dog food, or dry dog food soaked in the formula until it is mushy.
Are you using the correct nipple for the puppy? If nothing works you need to see the vet, it may be something wrong with the puppy...most mommy dogs will stop feeding puppies if there is something wrong with them.

Give him time to settle into his new enviroment, when he is hungry he will feed himself, make sure there is food and fresh water available, and that he knows where it is.Good luck, enjoy your new friend.
PS,he is quiet young at the moment,if in doubt consult your vet,he will need his jabs also.
