This is not about a guy in Washington who said "the human being and fish can coexist peacefully" - not this time.

Did you realize that the rest of the western world is rolling on the floor laughing because of "creationists" that dumb you down?

My girlfriend is a teacher in a school at the border between the Netherlands and Germany, with students from both countries.

She spoke about the Creation Museum in Petersburg. The children did not believe her until she showed them the story in the newspaper the next day.

There was a lot of laughter in that class... the children are 8-9 years old, they are all sure that there is more to that satanic "evolution" than to the story of an old man who buried dino bones.

So, my question is: did you pick up that you look like clowns, thanks to some christian falsifiers who annex science?

I don't want to offend you. But I really ask myself why you accept that your "christian taliban" do not only make a fool of themselves but of the whole nation?

Important detail:

I was in the USA very often, and I hold it in high regard. I know that the Christian Coalition and all their accomplices are a small but loud minority with enormous influence on the current government... that scares me, really...

David:
"There is absolutely nothing in our government that remotely resembles the Taliban."

I did not say that it has something to do with the US government, but the stubbornness and bigotry of the creationists and their brainless followers reminds me of the sense of mission of such militant groups.

"All this tells me is that the Netherlands and Germany are still very very closed minded people."

Nope. Definitely not. But Europeans had a lot of bad experiences with zealots, redeemers and leaders. We are really allergic when it comes to religious leaders that get an erection when they gain power over people.

"So your saying all christians are terrorists?"

Nope. I can well differentiate between a man who believes in Jesus and a man who uses religion as a cloak to hide his greed for power.

Guess what I assume that those guys are doing...

"But on the other hand, I imagine Europe to be very boring with it's sameness. "

No, that's wrong. If you travel the same distance as from New York to Boston inside Europe you will find much more cultural diversity.

"Have you heard of the great statue of Liberty, which welcomes those cast off from other shores?"

Yes, because I passed it every morning on my way to work. Staten Island Ferry.

"As a side note, there is a big reason why the THEORY of evolution is called that - it has yet to be satisfactorily proved."

What do need as a proof?

It has been accepted as scientifically well proven for many decades, and then some pseudo-scientists created some doubt. Without proof, by the way.

"...should I laugh at the entire country and assume that they all believe in the story of the ark?"

Of course not. Because the guy who made that ark never asked someone else to:

- teach his opinion at school, as an alternative to scientifically proven truth

- adopt his proposal or burn in hell

It's sad to me that many people can't believe that science and religion can co-exist. It's even sadder when people distort proven science to support a point, particularly a religious one. It's the saddest of sad when they try to shove their distorted science down the throats of others in ways like the Creation Museum.
I am a Christian but am embarrassed by the museum it being in my country. While I support freedom of speech and the right to worship or not the god(s) of your own choosing, I don't support the misleading of people. I believe God gave us a brain to use and that includes logical reasoning.
Ok stepping down from my soap box now....

I don't laugh at the USA as a whole, only at these creationists. But yes, I can imagine that the children laughed, I too laughed when I heard about this crazy museum. But this doesn't make all Americans look stupid. I mean what can the sensible ones do against the creationists? There is freedom of speech, they can't ban such a museum. And I know that it's not easy to educate people who decide to ignore reason and think their salvation depends on their literal understanding of Genesis. Have you ever tried to discuss with someone like that? I have and I can just say it's hopeless. You really can't blame others for not convincing the creationists of facts.

And you know while creationism is strong in America, there is also excellent scientific research there, do you think the creationists make all the Nobel Prize winners look like clowns? Do you know that there are many American scientists that made us understand evolution better?

So no need to be arrogant.

Greetings from Germany.

I would ask you this, You explain that the rest of the world "laughs" at those who belive in God, and his creation. I remind you that in many parts of the same culture that now laughs, they openly talk about euthanizing the elderly, the sick, the feeble. That they have give more rights to animals than to human beings. that they have so "evolved" that they feel that they do not need a God. so why would you or anyone else care if we have a different set of values. To you it seems impossible that anyone could believe that it took a "God" to create this world, I find it just as imposable, even more so to believe that anyone can believe that everything is here just by chance. That there is no purpose in anything. If the universe was full of planets like ours then I might be more inclined, but why then are we the only place that we have found that has life. If chance is all there is then why did life not "evolve" else where that does not need air to breath, or does not "eat" but absorbs nutrients in some other way. . You see, if chance is all it takes, then most of what we enjoy we really do not need, look at a person who receives nutrition from an iv, we do not need a mouth, or most of what we have if we did not live on this plaint. so now which is more funny to you, someone who believes that a loving God, gave us life, or that you are nothing, you came from nothing and you will end up as nothing. And you folkes think we are crazy.

I realize it, but I don't really care. While I think that the creation museum is a joke, I support the fact the people can believe whatever they choose. Didn't someone in the Netherlands build a life size version of the "ark". While the story of the ark is one of the biggest lies in the bible, should I laugh at the entire country and assume that they all believe in the story of the ark? Also your comparison to the Taliban is offensive at best.

Excuse me for saying so, but it is very narrow minded of you to assume firstly, that those people speak for the entire nation, but secondly that those of us who are not from the USA would be narrow minded and/or stupid enough to judge an entire nation by looking at a few... Do we look at the Third Reich and assume that all Germans are Nazis? I certainly hope not. Do we look at Al Quaida and assume that all Muslims are fundamentalist terrorists? I certainly hope not. Do we look at the Israeli cabinet and assume that all Jews are Arab hating killers? I certainly hope not. You simply cannot look at the actions of "the few" and assume the represent the "the many". My second point is this, people's religious views are sacred and precious to them, whatever you might think of what they believe, it is wrong to laugh at them. As a side note, there is a big reason why the THEORY of evolution is called that - it has yet to be satisfactorily proved. It is still a theory, so just because you don't agree with what someone believes, doesn't actually make them wrong. You might want to think about that some more....

Christian Taliban? I find that offensive. There is absolutely nothing in our government that remotely resembles the Taliban. Our government is obviously not responsible for the beliefs of some Christians, nor do they actively promote specific Christian beliefs.
The reason why many people mock is because they are intolerant towards the beliefs of others. They are also fools to generalize in such a way as to believe that Americans in general believe what some Christians believe.
I applaud the desire that these Creationists have to stand up for and defend what they believe in, even if I don't agree with all their conclusions.

Oh yes, we have our share of clowns. But they're our clowns, and we love them with all their faults and imperfections. Yet you didn't point out anything positive or good. You know, America has so very much that is good, beautiful, strong, by the grace of G-d (Allah).

Perhaps some day you will see, if you open your heart and your mind. Have you heard of the great statue of Liberty, which welcomes those cast off from other shores? There is a poem by Emma Lazarus which speaks for what is noble and good about America, what is truth in the best of Christian ideals and practice. When many millions of refugees look for a fresh start in life, America is their first choice, because of the good in it, not for what you have tried to pick at.

As an American, I forgive you for your ignorance and willful spite. You are judging by what you may have heard, and what you may have read. Keep searching, open your mind and let the hatred go. It will only cloud your judgement. I leave you with the peace of the Holy One, and leave you to your own devices, wishing you good luck!

You are so right. Bu tdon't think that all Americans support this dumbing down of science in th ename of religious extremism. We don't Unfortunately we have some very well funded political & religious leaders with lots of money to burn who can afford to buy alot o fmedia attention. And we have an idiot in the Whitehouse who will do anythign the GOP leadership tells him because it brings $$$ in. Did you hear there is now a "Creation Museum"? Another grand fraud to convince unwitting Americans that scince is all wrong, and these religious wackos know more than scientists. It is very frustrating for many Americans, I can assure you.

First off poor choice of words...Christian Taliban? So your saying all christians are terrorists? Stop before you write and think about it.....secondly to answer your question, the reason why this is happening in the USA is because of Free Speech....anyone and everyone with a voice are stating their beliefs and getting it out to the masses. What makes matters worse, it seems like over the past several years, here in the USA everyone is too politically correct. Everyone is afraid of stepping on everyone's toes. Long gone are the days when people just excepted things for what they were and had to interject their own views on everyone. And if that one individual felt miss treated, they'd go to the courts and sue for the right to have everyone believe that one opinion....i know that example might be extreme, but to sum everything up we are too PC and have lost all sense of tradition and ethics here...

Naw dude. All this tells me is that the Netherlands and Germany are still very very closed minded people. Try to open your ;mind over their and respect peoples beliefs and opinions is that allowed over there or no? I'm not Christian or do I believe in god but I do respect people and their opinions and beliefs. Our Christians who believe in god and peace make a fool of the nation. This coming from somebody that lives over where one guy had nations believing he could take out the whole world, also got them to kill 1/3 of the Jewish people yet love peace and god is foolish. So 1. think before you talk and 2. try to have an open mind about things and respect people for who they are not what they worship.
