Are you saying he will also not poop into a toilet? If so, just make sure you don't put a nappy on for convenience. My sister in law did that because her daughter wouldn't poop into a toilet either.. then allowed her to wear a nappy for the business. This continued until recently.. she is turning 5 soon. Buy him some really cool undies of his choice, then explain that if he poops into them they will be stained. He won't want to wear stained undies so very quickly they learn to use the potty or toilet instead, by choice. Many children don't like to poop into potties though.. to put it bluntly, sometimes the poo hits the bottom whilst still attached and coming.. this feeling can be very offputting to some children. It's different to wearing a nappy..
Make sure there is no problem with his rectal muscles as well.. and that he can indeed poop on demand.
Hang in there.. he'll get it. He's still in normal training age!

My nephew had the same problem, pee fine, but poop, no way. So what his father would do to get him used to pooping on the potty was to have him sit on the potty with his diaper still on, and poop that way. Finally after a while of this, his father cut a hole in the diaper without telling him, and he was very surprised to hear the poop hit the toilet water. After that he was fine. He just had a mental block about it, and I'm sure your son has the same. There's nothing wrong with him, don't listen to anyone that tells you that. He is just afraid is all.

Oh my gosh! I thought my daughter was the only one who went through this - mine is a disgusting mess! She only wears panties, but I have thrown away so many because she uses them like it's a diaper. I even caught her in the corner pooping. The only advice I have is to be consistent, try not to get angry and keep at it. DO NOT revert to diapers or pull-ups, whatever you do. I really don't have any other advice. My mother just tells me that it will end eventually, like that makes you feel less frustrated!

It sounds like he may have been allowed to be spoiled when he was younger. This may sound gross but it does work. Let him see you or your the father do a #2 and let him see it in the toilet. Let him flush it and soon he will think this is the coolest thing to do. Reward him when he does it and penalize him when he poops his diaper. I know he will catch on.

Reward him if he does, and be sure to make a big deal out of it when he does use the potty, and tell him what a big boy he is. I had a similar issue with my daughter when she was 3.

subsequent time he poops his undies or diaper don't be too speedy to alter him. i did no longer have this situation with my son yet considered one of my colleagues did and once I reported this to him it did no longer take long until eventually his baby desperate it exchange into extra powerful to poop contained in the bathroom than to stroll around with a loaded diaper/undies. another element I used to do with my son exchange into pretend it exchange right into a race to get to the bathroom. once I knew he had to pass i could tell him that i exchange into going to get there first and win because of the fact i'm the quickest. He could then run to the bathing room to get on the bowl first. After some cases it grew to alter into 2d nature to him to pass to the bathroom as a replace of in his diaper.

if you know when he goes take him a few minutes before and sit him on there and make him sit there for a while. watch him very closely for signs he is about to go like squatting and grunting and run him in to the potty

Maybe he doesn't like sitting down or something...

Try holding him up over the toilet well he's trying to... er number 2.

May sound kinda gross but maybe it'll work.
