I would suggest a chain link or wooden fence.

Get a chain link or wooden fence. Invisible/electric fences are not really effective. There are many stories of dogs being killed by animals that were free to cross such a fence or stolen by mischievious people. Also, if a dog does run through, they aren't going to come back because of the shock. If a chain link fence is too expensive get a zip line or one of the lines you stake into the ground. Don't leave him unattended though.

A poodle isn't going to want to be away from his family though. Proper training could probably keep him in, but you'd still have the problem with wild animals/people being able to enter the yard. Also, my poodle would probably leave to hunt down a cat if he could. As much as he hates being separated from us, he hates cats even more.

Invisible fences DO NOT work. Many dogs will challenge them and end up on the "wrong side". I have heard of dogs "contained" by i-fences being hit by cars and killed in dog fights.

Electric fences will keep a dog in...sometimes. Many dogs can figure out how to get under or over them. Also if the power goes out you are SOL and your dog is running loose.

Barbed wire will not work because a dog can just run under it or jump over it with no fear.

Cattle prod? I hope you are kidding.

Just use a conventional fence. If that is too expensive then try a zip line (line that runs over head and the dog is attached to a pulley and a cord). NEVER NEVER EVER leave your dog unattended when on a zip line though.

White picket fence. I know it's not one of the choices, but they are so cute! Maybe the fence in conjunction with the cattle prod would work well.

Invisible fence, electric fences work wonders too. I have one! No barbed wire or cattle prod, these are dangerous to dogs. Good luck! :)

Visit www.petstop.com
These people talk about how dogs run right through these fences but they do not understand that there are several brands out there and no they do not work the same. The Pet Stop Brand is great and installed and service by only professional dealers.

Invisible fence, or I would just use a wooden fence.
Sometimes we use a leash, when our dogs bark at night.

How about an above ground fence?? Second choice is underground.

Just get one of those ground stakes, and tie him up to that. Dogs love being tied up like that.
