yes, hinduism can be practiced while being atheistic......worship or recognition of Gods is not essential
no actually he's right.there are a lot of hindus who are non theists....i'm not a hindu myself,i'm a buddhist, but i know a lot of people who follow hindu ethics and are atheistic...many practice a hindu-buddhist way of life.buddhism and hinduism are very similar as well
yes,i suppose pantheistic would be the more common view but there ARE hindus (i know some personally)who are atheistic as well.

You obviously do not understand Hinduism. Buddhism is agnostic originally, but Hinduism is polytheistic. The 3 main gods are called Trimurti and are Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. Hindus may say Christianity is confusing to them. You seem to be prejudiced. read some about Hinduism. There are books at libraries and bookstores that can inform you. Your friend does not know much about it.

i have studied hinduism in college and i enjoy the religion greatly.
it can be quite convoluted, but that's the attraction for me...i can kind of a la carte it....
i can pick and choose what works for me about it, as long as i follow some of the main tennents.
there is one god and that god lives in everything. when you look at someone else, there is god, when you see the ocean, that is god, when you look at all the glorious things in this world...that is god.
it is not christianity, but that does not make it atheistic.
their images of gods and goddesses are not foolish. how would you feel if i told you that your crucifix was foolish?
it too is an image of god. a god put forth in a human, tangible form so we, humans, can understand it better than some abstract thought.
take care my friend and i hope that someday you can open your eyes to all the beauty in the world and all the room the world has for many different thoughts and beliefs.
have you ever looked at pictures of the earth from space???
it is one whole globe. there are no borderlines. it is a beautiful thing to see our world as one whole unit.

Do you want us to start trolling on your religion too? It can be done after about 5 minutes of research. I choose to leave those Asian religions alone because they are not being forced upon me. EDIT: Hindus believe in exactly 330 million gods, You believe in a god that is blue,he has moon on his forehead,a snake around his neck and he is high on 'bhaang' (a drug) EDIT: I not only see your a brainwashed fod, but you're also an idiot. Hinduism isn't a race. Way to refute whatever I say, I'm sure you had no idea about those facts I mentioned, so now you go back to name calling. Well done.

I just learn a bit about it !
There are 7 states of ascendence :
1- Innocent (unconcious)
2- Ego
3- Achiver
4- Giver
5- Seeker (of Truth)
6- Seer (of Truth)
7- Spirit (The Truth)
1 - 4 : Dependency on material world
5 -7 : Spiritual world
Does it help ?
Cheers

Half knowledge is a dangerous thing.
'Neem haakim khatara-e-jaan'
For generations , Hindu rishis ( hermits) have been in penance, trying to find an answer to the question, 'Ko aham ?" (Who am I ?)
The reply is, " Aham Brahma asmi'.
Too deep for U no?

Whats so confucing about it. The religion believes that God lives in all things. Not that we are actually God and to clear more things up, they dont believe in many differemt Gods. There is one God but God lives in everything, including us, hence "Sitaram"(sp?) means "I see God in you". So,this dosent make them athiest like at all because an athiest believes in no God. An agnostic believes in a God or higher power but has no set religion.

It's Pantheistic, meaning true divinity is inherent in ALL things. The Gods are only portions of that divinity, and we are smaller portions; however we are all facets of the same diamond that is Brahma or Krishna [I forget which]

as someone once said
If you go by the Hindu tradition, atheism is as much a part of Hinduism as theism is.
