America was founded on Christianity. Most of the founders of our country wrote the documents that we run our government and country by with the Bible in mind. We have God on our Money and in our pledge. The more we pull God from the things of this nation the more perverted this country has become. Look at our schools now that it is not accepted to pray or read the bible. We need God to survive. Not just a god, but the God!

Define "great" ... the wealthiest, having the most powerful military, having the least unemployment, et al?
What sort of nation should we be to be "great"?
Muslim?
Buddhist?
Atheist?
This country was founded on Christian principles and the separation of Church and state was to prevent the kind of power that the "church" in England had over the nation. I emphasize church here not Christian faith or followers.
Imagine a world or nation where every single person had no higher accountability than that of our broken judicial system.
This nation is "great" because all faiths or lack thereof are and should continue to be accepted. Though I do not condone other religions, I love every man/woman and pray for their salvation. I love my muslim and atheist neighbors as I do my own brother.
This nation IS great because I can feel this way and can shout it on the street corner without the threat of prosecution from my government.
I'd rather be labeled as so many of you do as "weak-minded" than to have a weak heart with no love for my fellow man.

Of course it can. What has made America great is its commitment to intellectual and spiritual diversity. What made Islam such a powerful force in Spain was "convivenzia," the idea that people of different faiths can live together. The surge of religious fundamentalism in some Islamic nations is symptomatic of their decline.
The Founding Fathers of this nation were spiritually and intellectually diverse. Many were devoutly Christian, others were not. Thomas Payne's books, for instance, were banned in Europe because they were considered blasphemous (1). Benjamin Franklin was an avowed deist (2). And likewise, Thomas Jefferson was very much opposed to the establishment of a state religion.

Why do Christians think they got the idea of being a good and nice person? Like no one before them was ever nice?
Christians are living in a dream world if they think the country was formed by Christians. It wasn't. The founding fathers had a diverse belief system that generally didn't include Christ. Hence the reason they left religion OUT of the govt. They didn't want to be like England at the time. I wonder when people are going to read history out side the freaking bible. There is a whole world out there people!
And notice the word Creator, NOT God.

No. History repeats itself! Look at Germany and Hitler, a "Christian" wouldn't murder Jews, or anyone else. Look now at Iraq and Afganistan; a certain sect of Muslim who insist all Christian should be killed. Oh yeah, in case u didn't know, Bagdad is the former Babalon, look that up in the Bible and see how great it was and is now and will it be in the future. By the way, New Age religion is dangerous as well, anyone know what George Bush's religion is? Regardless, flexing muscle anywhere in the world without just cause, and Bush didn't have one, is the beginning of the end.
No, America can not exist as a nation, let alone a great one if it looses it's Christian identity. America was founded on Christian beliefs, look at it now . . . is the Lord's prayer taken out ot the schools in America? Look out America!!!

It will be a much better nation when we get out the notion that we are a "Christian" nation. With freedom of religion we can't call the Nation ONE religion. As soon as we get rid of the idea of God we will be able to move forward as the best society ever.

Sure it could exsist without being a Christian nation... people may not be at each other's throats as much... but then again... some Christians would be upset and blame it all on the atheists... yes... just another conflict would being... sigh... so sad...

I hate to be frank, but it already is.
Christianity is the predominant religion in America. But nowhere in our Constitution or laws does it say that we are a "Christian" nation.
And I'm grateful that unlike some countries, we do not have a state religion!

I can only exist as a "great" nation withOUT being a Christian nation.
The views of people such as Jefferson which created the benchmark for greatness were founded on the RIGHTS OF MAN not any religion.
The fastest way to destroy this country would be to make it a true christian nation.

It will be a greater nation when it is no longer ruled by close-minded weak, fearful people who believe in invisible voyeurs. Perhaps then we will get some respect, because the world will see we have gained intelligence, and the nation will include all of its people, because the majority will no longer have to worry over persecution of themselves and their families. Yeah, non-christians ARE the majority, if you were to conduct an actual, non-biased poll and if there was no possibility of said persecution. So, dream on little christians, dream on, and grip tightly to that 2000 year old blood-soaked power while you can.
