....since he could just "strike" people down, is there any passage in the Bible in which Jesus did strike someone down, or indicated that he thought it was his place to do so?
In other words, you seem to be saying "Jesus wouldn't own a gun, but he would still defend himself". My question is, Would Jesus defend himself? Would Jesus use a gun if he had one, or strike anyone down who threatened him? If Jesus wouldn't, then why do some Christians want / need a gun in order to defend themselves? Aren't you called to imitate Christ's example and turn the other cheek?
I'm just wondering.

Nondescript, I said "someone" because I knew that fig thing was coming. I don't think a tree is quite the same as a person.

He attacked the merchants in the temple. Some would say that he just attacked their stalls, but some goods must have hit the merchant because of Jesus' actions.
Plus assault does not have to be physical, it is the act of making someone think that unlawful force is about to be applied. Even if Jesus was never going to hit them, the merchants probably thought he was.

Jesus was meek but He was by no means weak,God gave us the good sense to be able to defend ourselves when the devil comes against us God knows we all come short of the glory we can try to imitate Christ but we will never be able to be exactly like Him i am not an infallible person yet i know Jesus did have a temper remember Him turning over the money chargers in the temple

Your question is irrelevant if Jesus would have one.
Just ask the question straight up. "Is it okay that Christians have a gun because I don't like them and I just want to do something to make them mad...etc."
And to answer, no, you're getting nowhere. By OWNING a gun, there is no sin. Owning a gun does not mean they don't turn the other cheek. Again, Christian haters never cease to amaze me at how they quote Scripture out of context so readily.

I suppose we could mention Jesus vs. the money changers here. Jesus saw the money changers making a profit in the church courtyard and got mad. He crafted a whip, went in and chased them all out, overturning their tables. At least a few people felt the business end of the whip.

Scripture only mentions Jesus killing a person once, and that was in the Infancy Gospel of Thomas. Where Jesus killed a kid for bumping into him. Usually Jesus had the other disciples kill his victims:
"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27.

The bible gives us the right to defend ourselves from harm. That's in the Old Testament. As far as Jesus himself, He is the incarnate Son of God. No one would harm Him, no one could because He is the Sovereign of the universe. People did try to kill him and He always escaped by some miracle.

For a bunch of people with such a supposed "close relationship" with Jesus, don't they seem like they are the most afraid to meet him? LOL

Any time during his ministry, that the Jews either tried to stone him or arrest him ,until it was his" time",He would just sort of pass through them untouched and undetected. He showed he COULD defend himself when in the Garden as they were finally going to arrest him,he said "Whom do you seek?"
"Jesus of Nazareth" they replied. "I AM he" and when he said that, they all fell over backwards.
What he was saying was 'I am he and the only reason you can arrest me is I am letting you.' He showed just a glint of his power.Once he allowed them to arrest him ,he went through all the humiliation to fulfill scripture (Isaiah 53,Psalm 22,Psalm 69 etc..etc)
He even told the Apostles "sell your cloak and buy a sword." He knew they were going to need it down the road.

>>Aren't you called to imitate Christ's example and turn the other cheek?<<
That applies to YOU.
But let's say you walk in on your neighbor raping your 6 year old son. Are you SUPPOSED to lecture him on the evils of pedophilia? Or are you supposed to PROTECT your son from further harm?
Let's say Jesus walked in on Judas raping a 6 year old boy. Would Jesus tell the little boy to "turn the other cheek"?

I wager it may be the accomplice states of usa, and the u . s ., respectively. If the south broke away, in step with probability the north could become a extra socialized state, and have a distinctive call. exciting question.
