You have a point, but do you really think that would make big oil lower the prices? I doubt it, because the surplus would mean they would suffer a loss and therefore have to raise their prices to cover the loss.
It's a catch 22.

I'm way ahead of you. I barely put 3,000 miles a year on my car and I don't take long hot showers or leave my lights on in the house all the time. Many people have practiced "green" living for years, so it won't be as hard for them to adjust to water, gas or energy shortages. However, I'll save another gallon this summer if everyone else will.

I think we should all start riding bike again. Since the USA is the most obese country we could all use the exercise.
