Any flea treatment will work, so long as you remember that you have to treat the whole house, not just the cat. Carpet flea powder, washing linens in hot water, Flea spray couches and furniture. Any porous surface that may harbor flea eggs and larvae... And to be honest, I always do a flea dip or flea shampoo followed by a long term flea treatment like advantage. This way I don't have live fleas jumping ship for a week.
Ten fleas can become one thousand within a week if not kept in check.
Best of luck.

I use Frontline Plus for Cats........it is a soothing treatment that kills the fleas, ticks, flea eggs, and some treatments kill mites that get in their ears.......have you ever seen you cat scratch inside it's ear??? The Vet told me that fleas cannot get in their ears......he told me they were mites.
Advantage is different than Frontline Plus. Advantage takes longer to kill the fleas.....and it does not kill mites. Frontline is a watery jell like substance......Advantage is gooy.....it is harder to put on the scalp.
As far as flea medicines go, Frontline is the biggest and most popular brand. It's main competitors are Advantage, Program, and Revolution. You can get information here or from your vet on each, and it's always a good idea to ask for a vet recommendation. Frontline comes in drop form - you put it on the back of your cat's neck. You can't get the animal wet for a few days (which isn't as big a problem with cats). You can only use it after the recommended age limit, which is about 8 weeks, and you should definitely adhere to this. Frontline will essentially kill adult fleas as they get onto your cat. You need this because cats will pick up adult fleas from multiple sources - even from you, surprisingly, as even an indoor cat can get eggs or fleas that brush onto you when you come in contact with another person's pet. If your house is already infested, you should try a few other things. Don't let your cat outdoors - that's the biggest source of new fleas, and it's dangerous for your cat to go outside anyway because of cars and other general threats. Vacuum frequently, and wash all bedding that your cat comes in contact with in hot water. This will cut down on the flea eggs and larvae, and this or another flea medicine will kill the adults. Over the course of a few weeks, your flea problem will go away

We used Frontline Plus at my house. It's about 26 for 3 months. It seems to work pretty well. Myself I use relvolution. It cost more about 56 dollars for a 6 month supply but it treats everything. Since my cat goes outside on the balcony and he was a stray I used it for his worm problem. but either works well.

I don't have experience with the drops, but I do have a suggestion for washing. I'm not fond of chemicals, so I use Shaklee's Basic H. It is natural and kills any worms the cat may have because of the fleas if ingested. If you leave them damp, they can lick it off, ingesting won't hurt them. Since it is so consentrated it lasts a long time and can be used for tons of other things. (kills lice too)

Advantage works really well.. If you want a treatment that works and last a little while, try seven dust.. It is a powder that you put on all kinds of things, even ants.. Seven dust will also help to prevent ticks.. Advantage is just kinda costly..
