This is the one I did every night as a child.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

I have a book called The Golden treasury of Prayers for Boys and Girls. I had this since I was a child and past it down to my children. The prayers are short and simple and easy to read. The prayer include prayers for Jewish, Japenese, and Muslin children. Songs like Kumbaya and prayers for birds, a mouse and ducks. A prayer for a boy and girl. The Golden Rule. Bless the lord, Grace for a child, The prayer of the Cricket, The Lord's Prayer and so many more.....email me which one you would like and I'll type it up for you. There's a lot to chose from. So let me know which one you'd like??

I'm not sure what age group you're speaking of, but here are a couple:
I see the moon and the moon sees me,
God bless the moon and God bless me.
Angel of God,
My guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day (night) be at my side,
To light and guard, To rule and guide. Amen.
Thank You, God
The sun so bright up in the sky.
The moon I see way, way up high!
The soft green grass, the plants, the trees
are special gifts
God made for me.
All the people that I love
are blessed by Jesus up above.
My neighbors, friends and family
are special gifts God gave to me.
What gift can I give you my God
in heaven up above?
The thing you want the most from me
is pure and simple...
Love!
--Margaret Kennedy
Good Night, God
I love you, God,
with all my might.
Keep me safe
all through the night.
--Margaret Kennedy
Glory to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen.

I do not know many that I could recommend. I was raised Roman Catholic with the Lord's Prayer and a blessing for food, both of which included archaic language (Thee, Thy, etc.). I have just started teaching these to my seven-year-old, as he is now old enough to understand foreign languages (older forms of English count as such). Keep the prayers simple and understandable, depending on the age of the little one. My three-year-old has written her own blessing:
"God, Thank You for this food and for all the family and for the park. Bless this food and bless us. Amen."
Strangely, it is very similar to the prayer my Protestant grandmother used:
"Our dear heavenly Father, we thank you for this food and for the many blessings of our life. We ask that you bless this food for our nourishment. In Jesus' name, Amen."
The important thing is that you are teaching your child to pray. I applaud you.

I wouldn't recommend teaching your child how to pray a prayer someone else has written.
Teach them to pray honest sincere words from their hearts. Memorized prayers are nothing but memory. Prayers from the heart last a lifetime.

I've never liked the "if I should die before I wake, I pray my Lord my soul to take" part of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. A friend of mine suggested this to replace that section. "Guide me safelty through the night, and wake me with the morning light."

I made this one up for kids when they were little and we've been saying every night before bed for the last few years;
Dear Jesus,
Please send all your holy angels
To watch me while I sleep
And keep all evil spirits away
so I can sleep in your peace
and your love.
In your wonderful name I pray,
Amen.

Here is what I have taught my son
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the day we had. Thank you for this night that we can sleep. Thank you for my family. Bless that we will sleep well without bad dreams. Bless that we will have a good day tomorrow.
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ
Amen.

God is great
God is good
And we think him for this food
By his hands, we all are fed
Thank you for this daily bread.
Amen. Thank you, Jesus!
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning
Is now and ever shall be
A world without end.
Amen.
Adapted from VeggieTales:
We thank God for this day
For the sun in the sky
For my Mom and my Dad
For the home in which I lie.
For the love that He shares
'Cause He listens to our prayers.
That's why we say thanks every day.
Amen
