What it means is that generally nothing in life is truly "free". There is always some sort of cost involved -- maybe not monetary, but somehow, someway you usually end up "paying" for something that may appear free. For example, if you win a car on a game show, yous till have to pay taxes, registration & licensing fees, etc. So it is not really free.

Well in life the key to success is education with out it life will be tough. Imagine going to the supermarket to purchase a snack, you cannot read and your favourite snack is made with nuts u r also allergic to anything with caramel, you the pick up something that included both cause the item had a picture on the label you ate it and became sick. What a tragedy

The lunch is not free of cost.
You or someone else will have to pay for it, either with money or some other form of trade-off.

In Latin it is "Quid Pro Quo."
In English it is "The difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs a lot less."

There is always a price to pay for something. Maybe not in money, but something else even if it is only pride or self esteem.

"you'll never get something for nothing"
EG, if you enter one of those "999,999th visitor, claim your prize here!" sites, odds are, there's a catch somewhere
