Desitin worked in our house. However, keep the little tushy very clean. Change diaper immediately, the minute you notice that it's soiled. Urine and feces burn baby terribly.

Also, for about 15 minutes, after cleaning and drying baby carefully, leave the diaper off and let the air get to it. This helps a lot.

Ugh calm down people. You don't need to take your dog to the vet for hot spots unless there are several really bad ones that are out of control. As for penatin/diaper rash lotion, I use it for my dog's chapped and peeling lips on the side of his mouth and it works great. Now for hot spots, I use peroxide to clean & break up the oozing or dried crusty stuff, then follow it with a spray of Listerine mouthwash (the gold colored stuff). The key with hot spots is that you must be diligent in the beginning. Clean and treat several times a day. By the second and third day you will see a huge improvement. Using a good spray bottle helps if your dog won't let you touch the area initially. As it starts to heal, your dog will eventually let you touch it to clean it up a little better. I've also been told to sprinkle gold bond powder on it after the spray, but it just ends up caking up on the surrounding fur. I've had great success using just peroxide and Listerine.

Penaten works great !! Also this is something my mother taught me..u can rub a little olive oil on the rash and put on a new diaper and that would help the rash. I've done it for my son and i found it works the best.

Calmoseptine. It's non-prescription, but you have to ask for it from the pharmacist. It's VERY thick (stays on through diaper changes without soaking into the diaper and leaving baby's sore rear end exposed to urine/feces), and it's very soothing because it contains calamine and menthol. It's all I used for my two boys. It also gets rid of redness over night.

I use bare bottoms (not the cream but really no diaper) and sunlight, it works the fastest and my kids love the freedom

about 15 mins a day in filtered (through a window) sunlight.

I've always used Desitin. Sometimes though, depending on the rash, I've also used good old fashioned baby powder or vaseline.

A doc told me about this....Mix Pond's Cold Cream, a tube of triple antibiotic ointment, a tube of yeast infection medicine, and just a touch of the white chalky antiacid liquid (mylanta)...it makes a huge batch, but it works great and I always had it around for my kids and my friends when they would call and ask me for the "Magic Stuff"

I LOVE Boudreaux's Butt Paste. It always works. Sometimes I use A&D ointment just because I have it.

Second the Boudreauxs - and it works great. Also for chafing if you're a runner.
