It is an issue of pride, arrogance, and vanity. As you have noted in your experiences, people dont just disagree or disbelieve, they HATE God. People arent unbelievers because they have a lack of knowledge, they are so because they have a lack of faith. And many have become so twisted that they call the good things of God evil and evil-good. People hate God, his law, and his people based on what is in their hearts, not what is in their minds.
For all you who asked how we can blaspheme if you dont believe: Can you tresspass on someones property without knowing it? Can you ever go into court and argue that you didnt know that murder was wrong? Just because you dont believe or dont know doesnt mean youre not committing the crime.
Everyone missed the point of the Q; that people would so readily disrespect and disown that which is pure and eternal.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. -Matthew 10:28

Look my friend.
I believe in God, but lets be honest here shall we?
Quoting the Bible is not going to convince any athiest that what they are doing is wrong.
You might convince a few that its morally wrong to ridicule something that others hold so dear, but then the argument is turned around when Christians and other believers mock athiests for what are also perfectly legitimate beliefs.
SOME athiests blaspheme because they are showing they are not afraid of something they dont consider to be real.
And they dont believe in Him because they think science has all the answers.
And lets be fair, science has an enormous number of answers. But also lets be fair. With every answer science gives, we can ask two more questions.
There is a kind of blanket being pulled over peoples eyes that we are getting somewhere, and dont get me wrong, we are making progress. But what we should be learning along side all the infomation we gather while walking this path, is getting to grips with just how long this path is, and that every step along it shows us that we have even farther to go.
We must never forget that.
And athiests should not forget that when they speak against something that they actually have zero proof against.
An athiest should think, what is God?
God is an ever existing being that is the source of all things.
You needn't know anything else about Him.
And it is amazing to me how few philosophers are around today. Because no-one, ever, has even come close to being able to explain with even remote certainty what life is, or what it means to think and feel.
And yet these three things are the indefinable realm of God, and they always have been.
Regardless of whether the Universe was at one time thought to revolve around the earth or not, or if evolution is real or not (I believe it is), no scientist, or philosopher has ever, will ever, or can ever define what it means to be alive, to consider, think, feel, imagine or empathise.
When Christians talk about having a relationship with God, its not because you have to treat Him like your dad, or speak only in scriptural style language. Its because He's there, and everything you have that is not guided by one of your five senses is guided by something else.
I believe its God.
The athiests of the world are yet to give me an explaination of what it is beyond the absurdity of causality.
Or why 45% of the worlds top scientists have faith.

Well, I don't see any proof that there's a god out there and as far as I'm concerned you're delusional for thinking that there is.
And your last line made my irony meter explode. The only reason you are a Xtian is because (most likely) your parents were & you live in a country where the majority of people are Xtian. Had you been born in the Middle East you'd be a Muslim for the same reasons and saying that we're disrespecting Allah.
Seriously, is this the best you got?

Well, it's kind of hard for many religious people to grasp this concept, but they have beliefs that conflict with yours. They simply don't commit blasphemy because there belief is that God is non-existant. It's the same as a Hindu may believe in Vishnu, but not your god. A Hindu would not believe they are Blasphemers simply because they pray to another god. It's their beliefs.
You can't prove God exists to an Atheist by quoting scripture. Atheists have asked for prof of god by way of Science and not scripture. Find the scientific eveidence of God's existance, and you will find a world with a lot less Atheists. Unfortunately, no scientific evidence has been given to them.

Atheists don't believe in God and so are not actively Blaspheming him.
You chose to believe in the bible because you were brought up that way. People in India choose to believe in a God with the head of an elephant and a Goddess with many arms for the same reason. People in New Guinea believe that their ancestors come back to curse them in the mist for the same reason.
There is nothing that you can point to that proves that your version of God is more accurate than a native in New Guinea.
You rely completely on what you are told by your parents who did the same. Your religion was written by prophets thousands of years ago. They believed that the earth was the center of the universe, they believed that Comets were a sign from God and that God wanted them to slaughter whole towns and villages, killing everything including the animals there.
Atheists believe that this type of belief system is not beneficial to mankind, and that relying on uneducated men for a belief system can be dangerous. This is continually proven by religious people throughout history. The radical Muslims are only the latest, but Christians can get riled up into a religious fervor in the same way. Just look at Bosnia, Christians there committed ethnic cleansing on Muslims in the name of Jesus. Religion is dangerous, you might consider such a statement a blasphemy but it is undeniable.

quoting scripture will not change an atheist's mind. I'm not exactly an atheist, more agnostic, but logic and reason dictate to me that the bible was written by men who had stories with morality lessons and histories to keep. The oldest book in the new testament (John, I think) was written in about AD60 when the crucifixion took place in about AD33, so by that fact alone it cannot be taken at face value. Most of modern christianity is not even based in Christ's teachings, rather those of Paul who came along after the fact. Religion is dangerous, it provides justification for horrific acts. That is proven throughout history from the inquisitions of the middle ages to the Muslim extremists' acts of torture and terrorism. This is because everyone has a different opinion of what God is all about and that's a recipie for horror in my opinion.

We blaspheme because we've grown up in a culture where we are surrounded by people blaspheming.
I don't say "Oh God no" because I want to offend something I don't believe in or those who do believe. I do it because it's culturally accepted. The same as using colourful expletives.
The language I use will automaticly change if I'm aware of being in the company of people who may take offence.

If my grandmother's Christian 'love' and 'tolerance' is the example you want me to follow, then you really shouldn't be asking why I left the church. She's nasty, bitter and spiteful. Such a shining example. Goes to church every Sunday, never misses it. Comments rudely about whomever she sees. Fervently beliefs she's going to heaven. Doesn't have much hope for anyone else.
Oh the joy.

My maternal grandfather was a preacher. I doubted what he said when I was age 7. One of his books said creation was in 4004 BCE, while my dinosaur books say Earth is 4,700,000,000 years old and present much evidence to support it. I later learned that Bishop James Ussher studied the Bible and found creation was the date given. I see many errors in the Bible, so its deity is an ignoramus and an imbecile if it is indeed his word. What happen[ed] to me? I am wiser than my grandparents or my parents. I waste no time and money on religions that have been shown to be nonsense. Do you disregard Brahma the Hindu creator, Allah the Moslem deity, Ahuramazda the good deity of Zoroastrainism, Yu Ti the Chinese Jade Emperor of heaven, the Flying Spaghetti Monster and other gods? Your questions about your deity can be asked to you about other people's deities. Try to learn to be objective and see all religions are fantasies.

Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness. temperance--- if only.
I don't see many of the above qualities displayed in most Christians. What I usually see is smugness, arrogance, and hate towards anyone who doesn't believe the same way. Another thing I see with Christians is how they seem to take a positive delight in recounting the bad things which will happen to the non-believers. A sort of 'Yeah, that'll show 'em for not listening to me' attitude which is positively unattractive.
