OK, they want Christianity and all kind of religion out of school, out of government, out any public place that may "affect" them.
What gonna happen is that Christians and other religions may have to leave schools, government, and any public place. For the simple fact that you atheists don't want religion.
OK, Christians and the rest of religious, are gonna have to create private schools to put their kids, because believe me, you wont change a real Religious' mind. That mean that you Atheists being, according to wikipedia, 15% of the population, want to take over the majority of public schools.
As a result, Christians nor other religions, will be paying taxes to afford public school education for atheists, while at the same time paying for private schools for their kid.
Then also that 15% of atheists, may want to take over the government to fully take command of the country.
Is that what atheists want?
By the way, the 15% of atheists are all in Yahoo Answers.

So you would have no issue with your kids having to pray to Mecca 5 times a day, observing Ramadan, doing Buddhist chants and other such religious observances? If you allow one religious group to impose their will on the public sector then you must allow all religious groups to do the same.
The only solution in this is to allow no religion where it's not necessary. If you want to pray in church, go right ahead. I will support your right to do so. If you want to start a bible club at school that takes place after hours, then great I'll even sign the petition. If you want to speak out against the evils of atheism and any other religion in a public setting then testify brother! Bring down the all the fire and brimstone you want. However, once you allow that, you must give every other religion equal time even the ones that you don't agree with and consider immoral and possibly evil.
So it's either all or nothing. And pulling your kids out of school and putting them in a separate school does not absolve you of paying public school taxes. If anything it means you wind up paying double taxes as you not only need to support the public school but the school you send your kids to.

a.) Religion does not belong in any public institution. Why is that so threatening? Keep your religion in your (tax exempt church) and your home. Is that really so difficult? Does that really seem unjust to you? Separation of church and state does not imply your religion isn't good enough. It just means that with the proved potential for a conflict of interest, co-mingling of the two can and will cause problems. You can still practice whatever religion you want so your rights aren't being curtailed in any way.
b.) There already are private religious schools. Sometimes those schools are better than the public version and sometimes they are worse.
c.) Your children attending public schools doesn't absolve your of your public school taxes. I have no children and I still pay school taxes.

Sweetie...everyone is going to have to pay taxes to run the public schools, regardless of religion (remember that people with out children are funding schools too.) The fact is, we want out children to get an education. There is no time for religion in schools. It also has no place in schools. That's what church and time outside of school is for.
Most Christians or other religious folk are not going to run away from public schools simply because they don't force an entire group of children to pray every morning. So your argument is really pointless.

I am a Pagan, and I personally believe that the place for religion is at home or else in some other private place. Communication with God(s) is not such as to require 30 other people observing you in order to render it effective. I believe we should be allowed to *discuss* religion/lack thereof, in schools, businesses, etc. (free speech), but not practice it there.
You Christians have churches on every block in America, you can worship Jesus 75% of every day, why the hell do you need to be able to do so at work, school, and fast-food restaurants as well?

Yes that is what we want. I don't send my children to school to learn a belief system. I want them to learn the skills that will help them in a reality based world. (Even though it doesn't seem like it is) I'm not an atheist. People of religion should teach their own kids what they want in regards to religion. The problem is most Religious people don't know enough about their religion to answer the tough questions that a child who notices the obvious contradictions that religion and the religious display. The history and origins of ALL religions should be allowed but not to be used as recruiting.

No. Atheists want the government to uphold the Constitution and religious freedom for ALL, not just Christianity. Taking religion out of schools allows ALL religions the freedom FROM religion in public schools. Schools are not a place for religion - that belongs in the home, church, temple, etc.
You know as well as I do that YOU don't want just any religion in schools or government - you want CHRISTIANITY and only Christianity. You'd be having a holy fit if we wanted kids to pray to Allah or meditate on the Tao. You don't want your kids to have to follow Islam or Buddhism or Hinduism in schools anymore than I want my kids to follow Christianity.

Nobody from another religion wants your jesus crap crammed down their throat. Please send your kids to the 3rd rate private schools or my favorite is mentally and socially crippling them with home school. That way you can cram your beliefs down their throats and leave the rest of us out of it.
Christians who believe in the freedom of religious thought will continue to pay taxes to run public schools. And actually you right wing christos will to whether you like it or not. A country is only as good as the education it can provide for the masses. If you don't like the public school system than please leave the country. I had to try to use one of your kindergarten arguments against you.

I went to a private school, We didn't have very much money either to pay for it. But we went there because it was a better school than the public one. Religion had nothing to do with it.

This atheist wants schools and government not to impose any religious expectations on me or mine.
So, if that means that religion has to be taught in church or in private schools only, I'm very comfortable with that.
