My daughter has been free of headlice for 5 years and having experienced them once, I always check her hair as soon as she scratches her head. Yesterday I checked and found headlice. I asked her if she knew of anyone else in the class who had them and she said there is a girl in the class on whom the other children have actually seen the lice crawling. When they asked her about it, her reply was, "Yes I know but my mum doesn't do anything about it". I have mentioned it to other parents and they have all said they have suspicions that this girl is infecting and reinfecting everyone else.
Now I spent an hour combing my daughter's hair last night and will do so every day this week and every other day for the next 2 weeks to get rid of them but I don't want her reinfected by this other girl whose mother obviously doesn't bother.
I want to call this mum and ask her to take some action for the sake of the rest of us and her own daughter.
How do I do this tactfully?

In this school they don't do anything except send out general letters to everyone saying "We are aware that headlice are present. Please check your child's head". They don't tell the actual parent of the person with the lice.

There is no school nurse. I will speak to the teacher first and if no action is taken I will speak to the Principal.

It is the schools job to talk to the parent about it, you shouldn't have to. Call your daughters teacher and explain to her whats going on and maybe even have other parents do it too if nothing is done, I think after enough people complain they'll do something about it. If not call the school board.

If lice were found on a kid in the schools my kids went too, parents were notified and the kids could not come back to school until they are lice and nit free. They are even checked by the school nurse. I would talk to the teacher and the principle. I that didn't help I would go to the school administrator. Hopefully something will be done. Good luck.

At my kids school they are automatically sent home if so much as a nit is found, and cannot return until they are completely lice free, and the parent has to be present at all checks to show the parents where they have missed. So maybe the school should be taking a proactive approach and refuse to allow this child to return until her head is clean. If enough parents complain and say they are not sending their children to school until this is dealt with, they might take the problem more seriously.

The school should be dealing with this, not you or the other parents. The school should have sent the child home when they noticed the lice and they should have required her to be lice free before she returned to school. There is no excuse for that, they need to tell this child's parent to take care of the lice and keep her from entering the school until the lice are gone. It would be just like sending your child to school when they had a contagious illness.

in schools there is a general letter sent to every students parents, letting them know that head lice was found in your childs class room. But the child/ children who are checked and found to be infected get a letter informing the parents that his or her child is not allowed to return to school until their hair is nit free. the child then has to be checked by someone on the school staff to be allowed to reenter the school.
So yes the school lets the parent of the child know. It is a pain to have to deal with head lice. but believe me the mother/ father has already been made aware of the situation I guarentee it. The only thing you can do as a parent is to do every thing you can to prevent your child from being reinfested.
Things that work well is hair gel, mouse, hair spray. these things coat the hair making it impossible for lice to attach thier eggs to your childs hair. Keep a close eye on your kids hair and react to the slightest hint that there may be an issue.
There is no way to say look your kid has lice do something about it no matter how you say it, it will be insulting. You could mention that your child came down with head lice and that it was just a horrible experience and then tell her how you got rid of it. but to call her up it would seem deliberate and insulting you would have to wait until you ran into her and then strike up a conversation. But remember you wil then be letting out the fact that your child has had head lice and that can be socialy damaging to your child. It is best to just deal with the infection and keep your childs head as protected as possible.

Geez...this is a tough one.
No school nurse and teachers dont care.
SO...I recommend speaking with the principal again and firmly letting him/her know that you will call the Superintendant by "such and such date" if this isn't resolved. Be firm and polite and know the Superintendant's name so you can say it to Principal during conversation. This is the Principals boss and trust me, does not want to hear from him/her.
If that doesn't work, I know that there is a health district where you live.
I would not approach the parents directly. This could cause retaliation (especially if these people are the low-lifes that you make them sound like). Any kid can get head lice but if the parents dont take care of it, thats horrible neglect not to mention a complete disregard for the general public.

Talk to the teacher as this is a very touchy subject with most parents . I know what you mean it costs money to supply the medicine for this . You probably wont get anywhere with the mum if you do this yourself . have the teacher send a note home to the mum and ask her to check the girls head daily . Maybe the mum has some other issues or she cannot afford the medicine and in that case maybe you could speak to the mum and offer to help her get rid of the lice . offer if you are able to get the medicine and do the childs head yourself if she could come to your house . I hope I helped and I wish you luck very hard to deal with .

If I were you I would first speak with the teacher. It could well be that the girl's mother doesn't even know that the lice have returned. If the teacher has informed the mother, it's time for the school to take action with the parents.

The school should have policy that the child can not come to school with head lice. And only come back when her head has been checked by a official at school and is cleared. Please talk to the teacher and ask what the policy is. I don't know if the teacher will give you info to contact the girl's parents. If you do contact the parents please don't be rude it is embarrassing, ask her if there is anything you can do to help.

I thought the school teachers or nurse took care of notifying the parents of lice bearers. They do at my school. They go to the point of keeping the child away until lice is not seen for 3 days. That's got to be infuriating. Good luck!

I do not understand how so much of an inheritance you'll be able to anticipate. But by way of legislation, your mum and dad can supply you anything like $12,000 a 12 months tax loose. I'm now not definite, however you will be ready to break out with $24,000 a 12 months --12k from every father or mother. You would desire to speak to a tax legit approximately that. Depending on how so much you'll be able to anticipate to your inheritance and what kind of your mum and dad ought to presently live to tell the tale, you might recommend a annually present (as long as it is fair for them) to be able to pass the entire taxes you could ought to pay if it got here to you as a lump sum after their dying. So lengthy as you are clever with the money, a plan like that might be collectively beneficial. I'm definite that they could like to peer extra in their tough-earned cash pass to their youngsters, alternatively than the federal government.
