Blanket statements like that is just as bad as a politician lying with statistics! Do you have any other generalizations you'd like to add? Like maybe Asians are better at math then the rest of the world? Religion is not a prerequisite for happiness.

You obvious do not know any actual Atheists. The kids in school who say they are Atheist are basically the emo kids desperate to be different. If its not Atheism its paganism. Anything to piss off their parents.
Don't bother replying, I and all my friends are Atheists, very happy with great lives, but we are also adults. I have never met a depressed Atheist. But then I have never met a depressed person at all. Sorry you think you are a magnet for them.

It is the Bible that teaches you to "crucify the flesh"Most atheists I know are quite cheerful and balanced.Could you be projecting YOUR depression onto atheists since the christian dogma"this life is shyt, everything in it is dung, and If you "pass the test" your reward is to worship the being that gave you such a miserable body and sent you to live in a miserable world and who sent some of your loved ones to eternal torment?I can understand. Christianity is a very depressing way to view life

I do not hate myself and I am an Atheist. Most chrisitans I know have a hard life and take meds to not be depressed and what not. I think it has more to do with them blaming all bad things on themselves and never taking credit for the good things they do and instead past that credit on to god.

You really ought to get out and meet more atheists.
What suggests itself, of course is that there is the possiblity that "water seeks its own level" and that the people you meet generally hate themselves, because you are drawn to people who are like you.

I'm depressed? I did not know that. I guess you are right. I must be in denial. Or could it be that I deny being depressed for the simple reason that I am not depressed?

No, I don't hate myself. In fact, I'm the eternal optimist and annoy others around me with my perkiness. I sing in the shower. I read Wodehouse. Even worse? I'm an early morning person:)
You, however, look a bit glum. Want to smile? Watch this:

Rather assumptive question...what makes you think they are??? How many atheists do you personally know who are depressed??? Sounds to me like you may be one of those judgmental christian folks...get a life...and do what the bible say.s....judge not lest ye be judged....

You have a twisted stereotype of what a typical atheist is.
You need a hug.
Here comes the panther to give you a hug...
