And this matters how? Jesus is everything to all people. Black churches show Him as black. I've seen house churches in China that depict Him as Asian.

Most of the images we have of Jesus today are probably not accurate. Jesus was a Jew, so He likely had dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. This is a far cry from the blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Jesus in many modern pictures. One thing is clear: if it were important for us to know what He really did look like, Matthew, Peter and John, who spent three years with Him, would certainly be able to give us an accurate description, as would His own brothers, James and Jude. Yet, these New Testament writers offer no details about His physical attributes.

Most current day images are based on the Shroud of Turin.

In fact, many very old paintings look like the artist may have had access to the Shroud,

Shroud base art looks very middle eastern because it is the genuine article. The image has been found to be at least 1800 to 2000 years old and no one in that era could possibly have produced it because it is similar to the images left behind in Hiroshima after an open air Nuclear blast.

the only descriptions of Jesus are a faint description in the Bible and Josephus described him in some detail. The correct image from Josephus description is nothing like the correct depictions he was not very good looking, had dark skin, dark eyes, a bigger nose, scruffy hair and possible or fairly likely dread locks.

I have no idea. The popular image of Jesus cannot be what he really looked like. He was Jewish, and therefore he would have thick, dark, curly hair. His eyes would also be dark. He was not Caucasian, as he is always portrayed. The only thing that they can go off is the Shroud of Turin. Check out the link below.

You are correct, we do not know what He looked like.

The Bible says that there was nothing about His looks that would make Him attractive.

I think that Jesus was the most average looking male Jew of His day.

Jesus took a photo of himself and gave it to later artists so they would know what he looked like
