21th century. People still believe in horoscopes, at the same time, science is all over the place. If I talk about Creationism, people say "that doe snot make sense." However, if I talk about horoscopes, it may make "sense" for some people. Do you really believe in horoscopes?

And please don't tell me that you read it just for fun.

How can the position of the stars tell me how my day is going to be today?

I am sure there are more horoscope believer than atheist, however, horoscope is against religion. I don't get that. What are those who believe in horoscopes?

And what make one of those horoscopes tellers more believable that what I may say about someone else destiny just by looking at some cards. I mean, they can prove what they say, they just guess.

I don't believe in horoscopes, but my sister is into it. Just like creationism, astrology is a pseudoscience. It's not a real science.

Well, Creationists are a bit embarassing ... although that is a minority. But apart from that, I think its because of one or two historical episodes where some christians seemed to be on the non-scientific side. 1) some christians initially were arguing against Darwinism (Creationists still do, but they are a minority) 2) The catholic church initially opposed Galileo for his "new-fangled" ideas about the solar system What has happened is that some of the christian behaviour in these episodes looks very backward, idiotic, even a bit oppressive in the Galileo case. So what you've got is Atheists very emotionally committed to Athiesm, perhaps many not particularly concerned about accuracy in historical arguments. Some are very bitter. So these past episodes make christians look so bad, that they tend to speak of them a lot, and focus on them a lot, rather than making an honest appraisal. It's like politicians, and indeed like some of our yahoo disputations - people are keen to win the argument, so come up with the stuff that makes the other side look bad and idiotic. Telling them that James Clerk-Maxwell and Faraday were very committed christians doesn't thus glue in their minds, it's evidence they don't want to look at; unless of course they are trying to be impartial. But humans are often creatures of emotions and prejudices.

Horoscopes, like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Shintoism, Buddhism and all religions were created by pre-scientific men. Most of these religions and beliefs were crafted by Shamans or Prophets who had a vested interest in keeping the populous in line so that they could retain power and position.

None of them are based on reality or any verifiable facts. They all come from fear of the unknown, and are designed ultimately to control people and give them a false sense of hope.

Why do people on here continually ask Atheists if we believe in a wide variety of woo woo.

We don't.

Atheists have absolutely zero belief in:

gods
ghosts
elves
santas
flying reindeer
magical flying horses
tarot cards
horoscopes/astrology
spirits
esp
spoon bending
witchcraft
dowsing
telepathy
heaven
satan
zombies or life after death

There is no maybe, or possibility.

Why is this so difficult to comprehend?

I find horoscopes amusing. However, I definitely do not believe what they say. Although, I think that it would be fun to get to be the person who writes them.
I like science. It works for me.

I am an Atheist.
I do not read/believe in Astrology any more than I believe in god.
Most of the people I know, that read horoscopes, also believe in god.

Daily Horoscopes bring me much amusement. I don't know why but they always make me giggle. I think it is the idea that they are so vague that it is hard for them to be wrong while also at the same time they are just meaningless

Astrology is not science, it's in the same category as your religion. Make believe. And just because something is frowned upon in your religion does not mean it is in all religions. Christianity does not equal religion.

No, I don’t believe any of it.

I do know the general gravitational equation – which tells me horoscopes, the influence of the moon, etc., are false.

Medical science does not exist without evolution. Without evolution, medical science is no different that voodoo.

Anyone who goes to a modern doctor or hospital and denies evolution is a hypocrite .

Astrology has been around longer than Christianity. It has withstood the test of time. I do believe in astrology, but I don't plan my day around it. Actually, astrology is based upon fact. The movements of the planets are a fact. Why is it impossible to believe that somehow the movements within the Universe and ourselves are intertwined?
