Hi. I'm Korean student who's interested in tarot reading. I thought that Tarot is much more popular in America than my country so I decided to ask my trouble here..
It's too hard to write simple sentence..OTL I want to write this phrase(? Is that appropriate word?) as polite as I can, but I can not, my English skill is very poor, and I hope you that if you see my sentence which is rude or not right in grammer, let me know, please.
Actually, in my country, there's not much (very few) information about Tarot. I have a dream to have my own tarot cafe, and I am studying tarot..But to be honest, I don't know how to improve my tarot reading skill..
I have a instructuion booklet(completely written in English) and translating it into Korean - referring dictionary. And I think 'Which thing is more important? Psychic ability? Or just memorizing meaning of the card?'
If you are an a professional on Tarot reading, please help me.. I've done fortune telling many time, but still confused..

Sometimes my friends ask me to do fortune-telling(Of course, it's free). Many of them are not for just fun,but they have some worries or trouble about relationship or study. But whenever I do that, I feel that I am saying meaningless words.I'm not giving them a real help, just repeating what they have said to me before reading. I can't find any new solution or aspect.. That's the reason why I am writing this. TT I always regret not being any help for them.

I have been reading Tarot cards successfully for about 35 years, but I do not claim to have any special psychic ability. I have made it by reading books about Tarot (although not many; most of them are trash or at least trivial), but mostly I just read the cards.

I own a great many different decks, and have made a detailed study of the similarities and differences of each card in the different decks. I even took the major arcana of several different decks and made color photocopies of them side-by-side, as a tool in teaching Tarot. It is very useful, because you can see what symbol is so basic to the card that virtually all the decks have it, and what is artistic variation. But then you need to know something about the designer and the artist, who are often two different people, as in Rider-Waite deck, where Rider was the artist and Waite the designer. Waite was the one with magickal training, but Rider was the one with artistic talent.

It takes a long time to learn the Tarot really well, but you can get interesting results even early on, if you will take your time and study the symbolism used. Simply memorizing the "divinitory meanings" as offered in the booklet that comes with the cards is almost entirely useless. For one thing, many of them are intentionally misleading, not to mention much over-simplified.

If you are interested in pursuing a correspondence on the subject, follow the link to my 360 page, read up on what I've put in there, and then send me a message.

Both learning the cards' meanings AND the psychic part are important. As you learn the cards you will realize that sometimes during a reading you just INSTINCTIVELY or INTUITIVELY feel a certain card means a particular thing and you will find the psychic part of it becomes stronger. You will be picking up things from the person you are reading for, so go with this feeling. Also, always note the relationship of all the cards to one another.

Remember the person really picks their cards, allow them to shuffle the deck once or twice or just handle the deck, ALWAYS allow them to cut the deck before the reading and choose the stack that the reading will come from.

It takes a long time to get really good at reading Tarot cards but the more practice you have the better. Do it for free while you learn.

I believe in tarot but it's not about being 100% accurate. It's just a tool like astrology or I Ching. Take from it what is helpful and leave the rest. The training books can be confusing because one thing can mean several different things. Just focus on the question and how the answer relates to the question.

Clear your mind. Imagine a white light surrounding you and fire from the earth rising up. Look at the cards and sort of talk to yourself. That's what the cards are for. You are actually reaching deep down from within yourself to find the answers that are within you. The kingdom of God lies within I have heard. What are the first thoughts that come to mind when you ask yourself," what is this card trying to say to me?"? You will know if you listen. It's like a guessing game. Then see how all the cards fit together in an answer.

I'm a beginner myself. Sometimes, the answers don't seem right until you lay down the cards and think it over. Then you might be suprised how accurate they are.

Tarot is NOT evil, or from the devil. There is very little psychic ability involved. It's mostly intuition and knowing the meanings of the cards and the position that they fall in. I have been reading Tarot for 9 years and have had some very accurate results over the years. It's kind of a way to look at all the options and paths available to you in a particular situation. It's refreshing, like advice from a good friend, yourself!! Good Luck and don't be discouraged by these people telling you it's evil. Some advice would be to not read too many different books about translating the cards, there is alot of contradicting information, stick with one method and let your intuition take you from there. It can get really confusing if you try to learn from many different sources, and stick to the Rider-Waite deck, it's easiest to follow.

For advice, tips, discussion, and help in studying the Tarot I strongly suggest you check out Aecletic Tarot (AT) at http://www.tarotforum.net

I can't recommend this place enough--it has been around for years. It is full of generous, kind people from around the world. There are all kinds of discussions over there regarding decks, spreads, Tarot history and symbolism, readings, stories, etc. (The question that you asked is one that gets brought up there from time to time.) There is also an area where you can get help with your readings and post new spreads that you come with.

Plus, Aecletic also has a comprehensive deck review section along with card samples--a big help when you are thinking about purchasing new decks.

There is also a terrific Tarot podcast out there called The Tarot Connection that you may enjoy. It's at http://www.tarotconnection.net The podcasts are free. You can listen to them through your computer or download them onto a CD/MP3 player. You also sign up for the Tarot Connection through iTunes.

In tarot use your natural intuition as to what the cards are saying. Start slowly. Start each day with a one card draw looking at the details of each card and what those details mean to you. Don't be in a hurry take your time. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. (Note to fundies: Don't bother emailing me you will be reported as abuse and spam)

Tarot is neither evil nor is it from the one that lives below. Those that say that have probably never studied the subject but instead just took someone else word for it. Lemmings are great team players. ;)

You keep doing that you feel you should do. More than likely you are on the path that is right FOR YOU.

I am a professional reader and have been reading for 20 years. The best way to improve your skill is to throw away the instruction and meaning book. Just look at your cards and see what you feel from them. The main thing to remember though is that the Tower means death and Death means a new beginning.
the next thing is to practice. On yourself, strangers, anyone that you know nothing about, so you can't "cheat" by knowing their life and reading what you want to in the cards.
Keep practicing.
Also the cards are a tool to channel your own psychic abilities. Everyone is psychic in some way.

psychic intuition has something to do with it... some of my most accurate readings were entirely improvised. But knowing the meanings of the cards is still the best way to start, especially if you don't already have a knack for it. In a tarot deck exsists the entire universe, all of exsistence as we know it or can label it. the trump cards explain the tree of life, nothing becoming something and multiplying with itself and degenerating to the physical world, and then springing back up to perfect undefinable nothingness where everything is reassimilated to "god" and we become nothing. and then the process starts all over again. the court cards represent both the astrological factors and the lower sephira in the tree of life. The small cards are more specific, detailed aspects of the court cards. but people misunderstand the purpose of tarot. It can be used for divination, but it should be used to answer your questions of exsistence and spirituality. anyone who honestly believes tarot is wicked is simply too lazy to do any research for themselves and just want to accept whatever "pastor brown" or whoever tells them to believe. I mean, it's so much easier to let other people do the thinking for us, right christians? that way when we die we don't have to take responsibility for our own choices.

Numerology is any belief in divine, mystical or other special relationship between a number and some coinciding events. It's an occult science that I consider fascinating. I started to study numerology because of my obsession with Mathematics, Geometry. What I discovered it's really incredibble.

Gives a great insight in starting to decode the Tarot. I have met Paul & he has read for me, he has devoted his life to the Tarot & rightly says that those who are drawn to Tarot will find their own path. Learn a 'keyword' for each card & then see what psychic impressions you feel from there. Paul gives free Tarot readings that use the accepted meanings of the cards with his insight. Give it a go you won't be disapointed :
