Why?

The dog has never done this before. Never. She didn't even ask to go outside.

She finished her dinner, and while I was cleaning up the kitchen, she wandered into the family room, looked over at me sqaure in the in the eye, squatted, and peed.

In her whole life...NEVER has she done this. What gives?

Any ideas?

It's very possible that she has a urinary tract infection. Take her to a vet and have a urinalysis & full bloodwork done. If it's not a medical condition, it may be a behavioral or age related problem.

At 14, she's a ripe old age. Perhaps she is beginning to show signs of incontinence - or perhaps a urinary tract / kidney infection.

Take her to the vet for a real diagnosis, however.

There are diets, medications and change of habits that can help with incontinence and infections.

Again, remember, she's an old dog now - her needs have no doubt changed.

She is pretty old. Take her to the vet and have her checked out thoroughly. She might be getting senile and confused about where she is.

I wouldn't interpret it as intentional---if she has never done it before then it is a sign of something WRONG with her.

Had she eaten or drunk anything unusual? Any new meds? When my dog was on prednizone for an allergic reaction he started peeing everywhere---we had to take him out every couple of hours.

A vet check couldn't hurt---especially if your dog is coming down with something and you can catch it early.

good luck

ANY change in water intake or urination, especially in older dogs, warrants a visit to your vet, with blood tests and urinalysis. Many dogs at that age develop incontienence (spayed females), kidney disease, diabetes (especially if they've been overweight) and even Cushing's disease (adrenal or pituitary tumor causing hormonal imbalance).

So, before you freak out that she's acting out against you, make sure she doesn't have a health problem first.

Well, she is old. She may be having some bladder problems and just couldn't hold it any longer. You may have to give her more frequent trips outside. She probably looked at you as if to say "I'm sorry." I doubt she did it to spite you.

I would take her to the vet and get it checked out. Bladder infections can be and are very painful.

I would have her checked out at the vet's. She's an elderly dog and her kidneys might be failing, and she was looking at you because she figured you'd yell at her. Poor thing probably couldn't help herself. Old dogs frequently have those kinds of problems.
It's really sad when a dog gets old.

She is very old. her bladder isn't what it used to be. YOU yourself will end up this way when you age. She may not even have felt the urge. Take her to a vet. Could also be a bladder infection or diabetes.

It could have been uncontrolable due to her age or a physical ailment such as diabetes. Take her to the vet to have a thorough exam to rule out disease or failing kidneys.

14 Huh? Maybe she is just having trouble containing her bladder. If she never did it before and nothing has changed, (new puppy, etc...) Maybe she looked you in the eye to say "I'm Sorry, I Just Can't Help It".
