In this parable that jesus taught he purposefully chose a samaritan to be the good guy. You see, Jesus, a Jew was teaching other Jews about reaching out to others. In the parable Jesus has two "religious" types come by and turn away from the poor beaten soul. But a Samaritan, hated by the Jews, comes and shows compassion on the man and takes him up and pays for his care.

Moral of the story: God can work good things through anybody willing to be used by God. Furthermore, Jesus came for all people, not just for the Jews.

The Good Samaritan, a member of the Samaritan sect that has been nearly wiped out by Christians, Muslims and Jews.

Eight Hundred of them remain near Mt. Gersham.

Christians love naming their nursing homes after them, but they don't even know who they are.

And they've done more than their share to slaughter them over the past two thousand years.
