Go for it.
It'll show you're a good sport, completly comfortable in your sexuality, up for a laugh, and true to your word.
I think that you'll be seen (in the long run) as a much better person for going through with it, and doing it in good nature (as in, not being all surly and blaming your girlfriend for making you suffer etc)
