Are there any dangers of STD's from receiving or giving oral for the first time? My friend and I have not had any other partners. Both of us have yearly physicals but I dont think we have been checked for STD's.

You could contract herpes.

If a person with cold sores gives another person oral sex it could cause the person receiving to develop genital herpes.

Both herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 are responsible for cold sores and genital herpes. Cold sores however, are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2.

Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 can both be spread by sex (vaginal, oral, or anal) and by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area.

If you have not done anything sexual with another partner, there is almost no chance of getting an STD. To guarantee that you won't get an STD, use a condom or dental dam.
