Yes you can. If a person with cold sores gives another person oral sex it can cause the person receiving to develop genital herpes. And, if a person with genital herpes receives oral sex from someone it can cause the person giving to develop cold sores.
Genital herpes can be passed to the mouth which would cause cold sores. Herpes can also be passed the other way - mouth to genitals.
Usually cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1, but then can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2. Genital herpes is usually herpes simplex virus 2, but herpes simplex virus 1 can also cause it.

Yes you are at risk of becoming infected especially if she is having an outbreak. Herpes can be passed from genital to genital, mouth to mouth, genital to mouth and mouth to genital. If you decide to perform oral sex on your girlfriend be safe and use dental dam...
And don't forget to use condoms.... You can have a health safe sex life with herpes, you just have to take precaution and become educated on the infection..
Good Luck

I would be so scared to even consider putting my mouth on herpes. Please don't do it. We need to learn how to control the diseases in our population. When in doubt, don't!!! Doesn't mean you can't love one another; just try and protect the ones you love.
