Things you can feed to each other. Fresh fruit, sandwiches from a great deli(have them quarter them), sparkling cider, chocolate (what women hates chocolate). Get what she loves.
Presentation is important. Get a cute basket with real plates, cutlery, napkins, glasses. My husband did this for me and I appreciated the trouble that it took to pull it all together. Even if the food stunk, I loved the fact he just didn't throw it together at the last minute. It took forethought.

No fuss! Nothing to clean afterwards. Cleaning would take away form the romance. Think finger foods!
Simple sandwiches, nothing messy. Cut fruits and veggies that you can dip instead of a salad.
Little deserts instead of something you would have to cut and serve. Chocolate covered strawberries, YUM.....
Just keep the focus on the romance and each other...
Keep it as simple as possible for a picnic. Now if you are doing a picnic on the living room floor - you could go all out - candles and all...

A popular picnic around here is to pick up some deli sandwiches, a baguette, dipping oil, and a bottle of wine. Maybe a cold salad without mayo. Don't forget the corkscrew!

Do the traditional french fare of olives, bread, cheese (soft or hard), dried sausages, fruits, wine, chocolate. Bring some nice wildflower bouquet to a quiet park w/ a blanket and you've got it perfect. Whatever you like just make it finger food that's filling, requires little preparation and allows you to pick at the food rather than serve it up so you can concentrate on spending your time together.

Finger food! Nothing to strong or garlicy!
Why not go with a theme! Like all the types of food that are special to you two! Or the type of food you had on your first date! She will be touched that you care!
If you can't remember :P Why not go with all red foods and a red rose and rep rose petals with a red candle and a present! A ruby ring...
Or maybe her favourite colour or type of food!
I hope sparked your imagination!!!

Awe, how sweet. You should probably bring finger foods that are easy to eat, like chicken salad sandwiches and fresh fruit. plus bottled water. how romantic.
