you peel the stem a little as if were a carrot-on the white ones who are a liitle hard on the stem.in some boiling water you add salt and sugar.....drop them for 7 minutes.let cool a bit and pour holandaise sauce over.yum.
the green you can steam -they are thinnner.same sauce.or lemon -butter sauce.
you can eat with fingers.hold by the stem and put the flower type other end in your mouth sort of biting or-sucking but pulling....or just cut the tip and eat.you can pretty much eat the whole thing unless the stem is too stringy and hard.all asparagese are diffferent even in one batch!!!!! enjoy

I love asparagus, blanched in a few inches of water for 2-3 minutes, then sprinkled with lemon and sea salt. Also, have roasted them, sprinkled with chopped garlic and olive oil and a little fresh-grated parmesan.

GRIDDLE them with olive oil and a touch of salt, get your griddle hot! Steaming often results in slimy veg.
For best fresh asparagus grow your own - you need a raised bed with fertile well drained soil and patience, you will get some asparagus in 3 years

Steaming it is ok but I prefer to cover them in a little olive oil and roast in the oven for about 15-20 mins. Add a few parmasan shavings and gobble them up. Yummmmyyyyyy

I love it raw in salads or grilled. Just cut off the bottom 2 cm so that there are no hard bits. I sometimes drizzle a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil as well

It is the best when you broil it on low (250-300 degrees) for about 20 mins with a little olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper. No work and lots of flavor.

cut of the bottom of the stalks, steam or boil them.
Then grind some pepper over them and smear in a little bit of proper butter mmmm
Next day find out if you can smell it in your urine - there is a whole big massive debate about if you can smell it or not ;)
