Yes I have also been there done that! I had 2 Dr's that would treat us BOTH, and one refused to saying it's NOT passed back and forth. If you're using treatment (metronidazole) and it's coming right back, my advise would be complain bitterly to the Dr and insist he treat BOTH of you.
Won't hurt the Dr either way! And might just help you...
best of luck!!

And a guy and a guy...and every other permutation. But first: what KIND of bacterial infection? Has a culture been performed? As far as I know the answer to your question is a huge YES. Are you taking antibiotics or other medications (over the counter, illicit drugs)? You need to get some additional information (and possibly a new doctor - a gyno would be best) before just giving up. A persistent bacterial infection is NOT NORMAL and I would think most unpleasant and unhealthy. Don't let your doctor blow you off on this.

About 80 percent of yeast infections are caused by a specific species of Candida, called Candida albicans. The remaining twenty percent of yeast infections are caused by other types of Candida. These infections may require treatment with special medications that are different from the usual treatment. While yeast infections are not usually considered sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), they can still be transmitted sexually -- so we have also included them in the STD section. Try to avoid intercourse until you have completed treatment and the symptoms have subsided.
