Technically, there is no corn on the outside of a corn dog, so a vegetarian could not just eat the corn. It is consisted of cornmeal, and as I am a vegetarian, I wouldn't want to eat just the cornmeal off of the corn dog. Really because the juices, hormones, chemicals and blood would leech into the cornmeal coating when heated! Gross!

Sure, if it's a Morningstar corn dog or other type of soy corn dog. But that's kind of a waste of food, isn't it? Might as well just buy corn meal and make your own batter, that's cheaper. ;)

of course not! The juices from the dog would be on the corn! The juice would be meat.

Why not make corn pone?
Corn pone is cornbread batter deep fried in vegetable oil.
Just as good - eggplant slices dipped in cornbread batter and deep fried.
Try dipping veggies in cornbread batter and deep frying them for something different.
